Weekend at Hallet
Went out for 3rd time at Hallet this weekend. Amazing. Most fun you can have in your car. Finally getting consistent thru the morning sessions(2), then break for lunch. A thunderstorm blew up and delayed us for an hour(lightning).when we finally got back out I used caution on the wet track as it was first time tracking in the rain. What a blast though. I can't wait to go back.
I do have a couple issues to address though. It was hot and humid durin the morning and my oil temp was reading a couple needle widths from 300*. Has anybody upgraded their oil cooler? All ive found are DIY ones. Secondly was as I created the first hill at speed and stretched my suspension, I got DIC message Service Stabilitrack. Is this a result of non factory tire sizes? 275/35/20 on OE 20x9 all around.

I would like to get up to Hallet sometime.
Some things I do for temps mgmt: - I run about 1/4 qt low. If the oil gets whipped up it will generate heat due to the air bubbles - Make sure the very bottom of your radiator is free of leaves and bugs. - I remove the weatherstripping at the firewall/hood to allow more air movement - I run the A/C on the cool down lap and let the car idle with the hood up/AC on for 2-3 mins post session. The A/C fans knock the temps down fast. Coolant level? Lean tune?

I'll try the weatherstripping removal and check lower radiator.
Also next time I dyno I hope to check my a/f ration see if I am lean. Coolant was full. Checked start of day.

I know that track and that hill. It may have been that a tire left the ground briefly and the ecm caught it. a square 275/35 all 4 corners set up isn't causing it.

It was first lap each session and wasn't up to speed. Definitely suspension travel but getting air I'm not sure. I don't mind it shutting off the nannies, but wanted to turn off when I wanted. Service Stabilitrack faults are too general.

ZWA, I'd love to know what mods you've made for running at the track if any. I just did my first track day ever at Hallett this last Thursday. The only modification I made for the track was to change out the brake fluid with StopTech's STR600 DOT4 fluid. I was already running Baer Decelarotors and Hawk HPS pads. I also had to replace my front tires, but that was coming one way or another.

I was at Hallett last Sun for the COMMA event in my Z28. First time I had tracked it and first time on Hallett since the repaving.
All I can say is that a fantastic track just got that much better! So much smoother now it was actually pretty easy on my tires. |

Grayman,
I've added several mods for help at the track. AirRaid air intake, ported TB, Texas speed headers into LS3 Catback and out thru NPP mufflers. At the time I went stick suspension plus BMR subframe connectors and rear trailing arms. I have since upgraded to fe4 lower control arms and zl1 rear sway. 20x9 OE wheels all around with 275/35 continental extremecontact DW. Hawk HPS pads. I've also recently added 2014 hood vent and 1 LE splitter. I am wishful to make the last one November 14-16. Are you part of OKCamaro?
