Pully upgrade please help :(
Hi guys i am from Australia and am trying to plan out my build, I have the 2014 VF GTS with the LSA engine.
Been looking into the lingenfelter pulleys and i cant make my mind up what setup to run. Do I Leave the supercharger pulley and just mess around with the bottom ones to avoid belt slip? Mods list below if someone could recommend which combo to go with it would be much appreciated. Mild Cam (to suit the stand 6l90e converter) ID1000 Injectors (tuning to 98 with the possibility of going e85 in the future) Ported Throttle Body Elite Engineering Catch Can 160 Degree Thermostat Inch and 7/8 Ceramic Coated Long Tubes, No cats, 3inch Cat Back Cold Air Intake |

Well with your mod list, you don't have any reason to disturb the blower or snout. I'd just run a big lower and leave the upper alone.

Pully upgrade please help :(
Was thinking spinning the blower around 20,000rpm, anyone have a rough idea of what psi it will put out?

Wow, nice car. That's what the Chevy SS sedan should have been.
Since you already have a cam and headers; you should run a 9.55 lower which would put you at around 12.5 psi. You could even add a 2.85 upper if you wanted. This would give you plenty of belt wrap to prevent slipping. BTW - The CTS-V guys almost always go the route of smaller upper (2.38) only or a 9.1/2.5 combo seems to very popular. |

For your current set up you can just overdrive the crank pulley to turn up the boost and it should be plenty. It's more expensive parts-wise, but less work labor wise than pulling the blower to change the upper pulley. |

I am running the 9.55 lower and the 2.5 Upper...sitting at 15 lbs. of boost on 91 Octane (hard to find anything better w/o having to travel across town every time I want gas). If you go this route, you might look into Meth injection (Alky kit) to help with cooling and keeping your IAT's down. Personally I like this option better then E85. Ohh, BTW, I lost about 3 lbs. of boost because of the headers and the Cam. I am running the Texas Speed LS3-B blower cam and 2" Texas speed headers and X-pipe, high flow cats with the stock mufflers.

Gorgeous Car. We can do almost anything we want with just the Crank pulleys. If you plan E-85 go with the ID-1300s You will need a good fuel system for E-85 like Squash. Ted.

If you wanted a stock stall friendly cam we have an option for you in the form of a 219/231 .64? .63? 11? LSA that will net you between 55-60 horespower as well as the Texas Speed variant but ours won't require the use of a 2500 rpm stall to get the most from it. And since you are thinking about a cam swap it would be easier to go with an overdriven crank pulley and leave the stock snout pulley alone thus minimizing the risk of belt slippage and added work load as Kelly put earlier.

Cheers for the response guys i have heard of the lsa Supercharger Isolator failing. I was told by a friend of mine that if my car is after a certain build number that it already has a updated isolator. Just need to decide which option to go out of these 2

We'll usually do both the upper and lower for a good compromise of belt traction and not adding too much weight to the crank pulley. It's also a good idea to get in the supercharger to replace the isolator coupling.
The combo we use in our JDP ZL-850 packages include a Metco 2.5 upper, Metco isolator coupling, Metco 100mm upper idler and an ATI crank damper with 10% O/D pulley. We have no issues with belt slippage and the supercharger is still within it's efficiency range. Best regards, Tyler 888-308-6007 |
