New badge placement on trunk...Pics inside!

The rear of the 2012-13 cars has always been the least appealing view of the Camaro to me. Now, I know they've essentially been the same since the 2010 introduction on the standard cars, but I thought I'd try a different take on it, at least one that I don't recall seeing here on the forum.

I painted the tail light bezels satin black, removed the bowtie and ZL1 trunk badge. I painted a hood badge satin black and installed it on the trunk. That proved to be a little trickier than I thought it would be, as the "L" has to bend in the middle to follow the crease on the trunk to make it look OEM. Overall, I like it, but I'm not sure I'm going to keep it long term. I figured I'd try it out before I go ahead with my other plan of getting painted badges/bowties from Lupe.

Any thoughts, one way or another?

It looks good.. but I'm thinking the rear would look better with no badge. Leave 'em guessing from back there

It looks ok. I think I would like the defuser painted white and the bezels white also? What do you think about that? The rear factory ZL1 emblem could be left in the stock place or delete it if you did not like it. I do not know for sure how that would look with the black wheels but it is just a thought.

I like it.
Too bad you don't have the 14/15 tail lights......

Actually, no crease on the new ones so it would be a lot easier.

Coincidentally, I was in line at McDonalds drive thru today behind a white SS with everything painted white. Now, I know it's not exactly apples to apples, but I sort of prefer the black contrast, particularly with all the other bits on the ZL1.

I know! With no other change to the Z (besides Recaro's), I just couldn't justify the extra money for a new rear bumper/tail lights over my deal on this 2013. But I do prefer the 2014+

I like it. Did you bend the "L"?
If yes, can you tell us how?

Yes, I did. I had to, to make it look right. It was a pain in the ass. I confess I had to buy two of these damn things as I fubar'd the first set

I just measured the whole badge, divided in half and bent the "L" at that point. I put it in a vice (only as tight as needed to keep it from getting damaged), heated it with a heat gun, and bent it to shape with my hands. The adhesive bubbled up from the heat, so I just replaced it with 3M double-sided stuff available at all the parts stores. Unfortunately, where it needs to be bent, it's basically the worst damn spot to get good leverage, and make it even...but I eventually got it.
