Kimber is top shelf parts and built to higher tolerance than the RI's, so much so, that the Kimber doesn't like to run dirty, but is more accurate. The RI is a dirty girl, but dependable and accurate enough for edc.

The Kimber has needed nothing in three years, the RI needed safety work, but otherwise a fine shooter.
Oh ya I am familiar with kimber. I have several full size 1911's. The one I looked at today was $800. Not a bad price for a kimber. If I had the coin I would look at a wilson combat or les Baer or another top 1911.

For some reason I didn't even think about a smaller 1911 for edc until I ran across the Kimber solo.

I was the same way, but it's nice and narrow, shorter grip and the barrel is easily covered. It's perfect for me... and if needed I can lay down indirect cover fire up to 200 yds with a spotter

.... yes I do shoot it at 200-250 yds when we're shooting rifle

Lol a spotter ha ha

I have a glock 35 that I have modified pretty heavily and love shooting it long distances. It's pretty surprising how accurate it is at long range.

I just liked the feel of it and how it fit my hand. It's a little bigger than I want but manageable.

I like Glocks, never owned one, but shot plenty. My son was a fan till he did the mud torture test and it failed. In it's defense, he was pretty hard on it.....

I like them with all of the mods, I don't care for them stock. Would never use it for an EDC especially since it has a 2.5 lb trigger and almost no take up. It's strickly for fun.

Damn lucky having a range that goes that far out. The longest one near me is 100yds, and there is no BLM/"open" land within 4 hours :(

If I wasn't too lazy to leave the yard I could shoot up to 600 yds if I wasn't concerned about accidentally shooting my house lol.... yes I am a fortunate country boy.

My buddy had a 1911 Kimber. Took it to the range and it would not fire. It's been a couple years now, but he spent quite some time communicating with Kimber and the gun shop he bought it at. Turns out it was such a tight gun, it would only shoot one brand of rounds.

I don't know. Some have posted photos of a steering wheel column holster, looks awesome and handy spot. Never tried it though, so can't review it.

I saw those but after looking at our cars I am not sure it would fit very well. Probably great for a truck but then again there is a ton of room in a truck for several different types of mounts.
