The only negative to headers is the added valve train noise. Every thing else is a +

Echos in the tubes amplifying the normal valvetrain noise.

The thinner the tubing the worse it is.

Dynatechs are the quietest due to the thicker tubing.

Ted.

Don't do it. I did it and now I can't stop driving my car. Just this weekend alone I put 450 miles on my car. Don't do it, you will love your car soooo much you will find reasons just to drive it and feel the power, the wheel spin, the head banging as you accelerate from a stop.

Get high flow cats and keep the OE catback and NPP. You'll get an improved but still mellow V8 rumble <3000 and the hooligan special when you step on it. Best of both. I got 50 rwhp with: CAI, ARH w/HFCs, VMax PTB, and Mike Norris dynotune. And the improved throttle response may be more impressive than the power.

BTW, when I was in your position and researching this (having never done it before), i was very concerned about getting too loud as I have a convertible. Ted recommended this setup and he was spot on.

Trust in Ted.

If I was anywhere near CT, I know where I'd go.

I've added LS3 catback and NPP mufflers to my longtubes and it's a great sound!

pros:
-more hp/tq
-sounds amazing
-permagrin
-weight loss

cons:
-added valvetrain noise
-your neighbors will hate you
-annoying CEL that goes away with tune, yay more mods! (most could argue this is actually a pro)

at the end of the day, bite the bullet and do it, you'll be kicking yourself wondering why you didnt do it sooner
