Battery Tender
Has anyone installed a battery tender? I'm just seeing if anyone has done this. With the battery being the trunk, I don't want to have to leave the trunk open, I would prefer to hook the lead up under the hood.
Thanks

I have.....there is a rubber plug on the right side near the battery that pulls out and you feed the lead through that hole and i have a quick connect that attaches to the battery.

You can connect it under the hood to the "remote" battery terminals, that's what they're there for and what I use for my tender. Check your owners manual for their location...can't miss em.

Just slit the plug, pull the wires in and RTV the plug and you are good to go. I use the Tender Jr.

I leave the tender outside the car. It has long leads that go to extender leads and I connect those directly to the battery in the trunk. The leads are small enough not to damage the rubber trunk seals.

I use a Battery Sentinel true float trickle charger during winter storage. I popped the insulator off the POS lug under the hood and drilled a hole in the lug terminal to attach a #6 screw and mounted the ring terminal of the POS charger cable to this and put the NEG terminal under the grounding post beside it. Then popped the insulator back on. This setup has a quick disconnect that connects to the charger. In summer I just pull the disconnect and tie wrap the short piece mounted to the lugs to the underside of the battery cable out of sight.

I connected under the hood to the remote terminals too. Easy

I have the ringed terminal connected to the red accessory post, and the tender plugged outside. Its a great aid to a hibernating car.

Same here. I use the Ctek charger with the extended terminals for Winter storage. You can run it through the lower grill up to the terminals if you want or with the hood open. Either way works fine. Great charger by the way.

Or you can just disconnect the positive cable and not worry about a battery tender..
Do it every year, works like a charm. Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk |

How long have you been doing this and how long is your storage period? I would think the battery will drain some, but still have enough to start the engine when you get it out of storage. While this seems OK, I would think it affects the overall life of the battery. How many years do you get out of your batteries?

Battery doesn't drain any if not hooked up. Does your Duracells sitting in the drawer drain when not in use? Nope! Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk |

Storage period is 5 to 6 months and been doing this for 20 or so years with different cars throughout, cause I'm always changing cars every couple years.... never once had a problem
This car I'm keeping though! Awesome. ![]() Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk |
