Who gives a damn what it looks like? It works. I haven't owned a rear wheel drive manual trans car that hasn't had one in the same place yet. Ocmert seems brilliant.

I don't think these cars have one. There is a manual adjustment with the rear rotors off. There is a spring across the adjuster holding it in place. You have to hold the spring out of the way to rotate the adjuster. Unfortunately if you push the parking brakes out more than adjuster turn or two, you can't put the rotor back on. So I think the only real choice is to shorten the cable.
You are right, the reserve thing didn't work. I will bring to the dealer (I have some bonus dealer credit) and let them do it.

How about like an old van; pull a long stick like thing out of the dash?

I am also fine with the location, i think they could have done a better job with it, a cheap piece of platic on top of the metal lever, something more like this . . .

I know what you are thinking but try this. Just try pulling the brake lever up from the middle and then try it from where it is designed to be pulled from and see which is easier. Basically shortening the brake lever would be the same as pulling the existing one from the middle.
It would make more a sense to move the entire brake lever. But it is placed in a position for the majority of drivers that are sitting in a normal seating position can use it effectively.

yeah but I swear thats a Nissan had 2 friends with late 80's early 90's nissans lowered huge stereo systems and if memory serves me thats what that exact one is from the console where stereo sits you could put a double din in or add a EQ to the stereo. but that was a popular place for it in those old economy trucks and vans.
