![]() But my spare switchblade literally was never used. It still has the original grease in the cut. Might be nice to hang onto it just that way for s's and g's

I don't feel super strongly about this but I kinda feel like they messed up and should offer some real quality customer service here. Now this is just a key so it's not really a big deal but still.. |

The dealers order a single part # that ends up being 2 keys, so you SHOULD always get two keys when having the recall performed. When I brought my car in this fall, I specifically said not to do the recall, because I also said they couldn't really do the recall, as I had also (mysteriously) lost my second key. That was enough for them to shrug and say okay, apparently. And yes, my second key still hasn't been used once, either. It's still got the dealer tag on it, the grease, and everything--exactly how it was given to me on that fateful day, January 31st, 2012. EDIT: After playing with it for a bit while taking this (sorry, quite large) picture, the spring on the switchblade is surprisingly stiffer than the other key. Kinda makes me wonder if something can be done about the old spring....

I love how people like to call GM cheap or halfassed for their solution to the key recall situation. Do you honestly think other manufacturers wouldn't do the same or something similar if they had the same problem with 500,000 cars? If you don't then I have some swamp land I would like to sell you that is ideal to build your house on.

If you read all of the post that was posted on this subject you would read that there was lot that would just take one in have it fixed for the recall. You then would have the switch blade fob to use. It looks like GM knows that you still have the second Fob and going to give you a third one

I was wondering if the "lost key" would still work after they program the new key or if they would delete it. has anyone tried the original key after the recall was performed?

However the key without the fob is the one that is tricky. If you hit the door lock inside the car as you exit the car and use the fob less key to open the door the security alarm will start to beep until you turn on the car. If you use the key in the door to lock and unlock the security alarm will not beep. |

If you choose to, you can still order the switchblade key fobs from a dealership (per one of our club members who is a GM mechanic).

I'm with ya'. I 've never removed my second key/fob from the envelope with all the car stuff in it. I do have both build sheets, but one is framed.

I brought my car in for service a few months ago, and they swapped out one switch blade for a key-less remote, and two keys.
As my service issue has continued, I make sure to hand back in the pair of key-less remote and key, and not my remaining/functioning switch-blade key. It's like have a "valet" key and a regular key. |

OK, you don't get it. I'm cool with that. But if you expect to have some mystery of the universe revealed on a car forum each time you read a post, you might have expectations that are too high. I told you about what I found to be an interesting thing. Have you considered that you read too much into things?
