You can already get a Gen 5 at a decent price including the ZL1.
Refresh? I definitely don't see a refresh being worth more in later years because it looks more like alot of things you see on the road! But they'll have a lot of value too!

Really?
The cars of the mid-late 60s are only valuable because of two reasons:
1) Scarcity - there aren't that many that were "Preserved" in anticipation that they would appreciate in value. There's too many trailer and garage queen 5th Gens.
2) Owner's Age - the people who want 60s muscle cars the most are those that remember them from their youth and have the $ to buy them. Today, less and less young people care about automobiles. Maybe to them, 1st gen ipads, ipods, iphones will be their collector items.
I say if you got a great car, drive it. Today.

Not true because you know how many kids love the Camaro because of BubbleBee? There are even way more kids on this earth than before and these cars are more worldwide wanted than before . Kids will grow and want these just like you ppl grew up and wanted the 60's and 70's! Watch !!!!!!!!

They will just continue to drop in value by thousands every year... just like they have been doing since they came out. They're just used cars, and depreciate every day you own them. Probably at an even quicker rate when they're "the old body style".

I learned a long time ago to drive and enjoy these cars every chance you get, as they're eventually going to be outdated and you'll likely want something else, even if you don't think so today. I feel bad for the people who think letting them sit is a good idea. I did that with a 1997 30th Anniversary SS for years, and just saved it for someone else to enjoy after I sold it. In hindsight I sure wish I would have had more fun with it when it was mine. I didn't make the same mistake with my 2010.

Well to be fair the 4th Gens wasn't doing good in sales, wasn't a hit to the public eyes and wasn't anyones favorite Gen ! That's why the mustang was killing them in sales even though the 4th Gens was a great performer ! But Style will always win over performance !

Trust me, the 5th gen will continue to fall in value when the next gen hits the streets. If you think It's good looks, style and whatever else is gonna prevent that from happening you're kidding yourself. Good case in point in the C6 corvettes... They were (are) awesome cars in looks and performance, but are already plummeting in value because they're the older versions of the corvette now.

Oh , no ! I agree that they will go down in value but what car doesn't? Later some cars that was hits when they came out go up in value! And you see some C7 owners actually have traded in the C7 for their old C6 ! I don't think the C6 will be as sought after as the 5th Gens will be just because it don't look look to much different from the older models. And I love the C6 styling over the C7 but the C6 looks like a actual corvette while the C7 looks like alot of different exotic cars! I just don't think that the 4th Gen is a good example to say how the Camaro will do!

There is actually some truth to this, I couldn't help but notice this last summer, how many kids, from the age of 7 until seniour citizens even, were staring in awe at Sledge. Never in my life have I owned a car that garnered attention from a such large age gap!

It's quite clear why the older crowd were looking at my car, but you are dead on the nail with the very young that were amused by our rides as well. They know .

Time will tell, let's see what happens.

In the meantime, I'm ENJOYING my ride, roger that!

I was pulling into an outdoor mall the other week and boy about 7 (with mom waiting to cross the street) was just drop jawed at my Camaro (and mine looks pretty stock). I wanted so bad to wind it up for him, but I knew it would make his mom pee herself.

The only collectible 5th gen is the COPO. All the others are just cars, but fun cars. Buy a new car, lose money. Make sure you don't miss the fun part by not driving your car.

Judging by posts on the Gen 6 threads, many people are worried that the new Camaro will look like Gen 5 - 2.0 and threaten to hang onto their Gen 5's. If this plays out trade in value will hold or go up. If the new Gen is sleeker not good, I really like my Gen 5, so If I don't get a good trade in deal so be it I am happy, if I get a good trade in then great I am happy to get a Gen 6. A good deal is when both parties walk away happy.

I can only see two reasons why this would happen.

A) The new design will blow our socks off, and we may all say, with finger raised in the air, "I want one."

B) GM offers some blockbuster incentives, discounts, rebates, 0%, etc, in order to simply keep the ball rolling.

If both of the above come into play here, many of us will be toast, and we_shall_comply , and sign the new paperwork.

If it's just the former alone, count me out, although temptation may strike once or thrice.

If it's just the latter, count me out.

I'm willing to bet it will only be one of the two above, but I'll keep quiet on which one I think that it will be.
