The price of 93 octane in Oklahoma is ludicrous!

I live in Oklahoma City and 99% of our gas stations have 87, 89, and 91 octane gas. There are like 2 stations in the whole metro area that has 93. I bought my first tank of 93 octane today and it was almost $2.00 a gallon more than 91. How crazy is that, most states just have it as their premium. I guess its just that they have a monopoly and people that have to have it have to have it. It's about $30 difference each tank 91 vs. 93.. 87-91 is like 75 cents cheaper than it was a few weeks ago but 93 doesn't seem to change. Just seems crazy to me, rant over.

Yeah... that's outrageous. 93 around here runs about 30 cents a gallon more than 87. You do know your car is engineered to run on 87, right? Even a SS will run fine on 91.

I have yet to see a station with 93 in California and our 91 is at $4.00 a gallon give or take the time of year...so I would relish in that 91 price.

You can stop looking. California doesn't sell anything above 91. At least not for regular street vehicles.

Yeah I do know that thanks. I bought the Fabberge(IPS) twin turbo kit for my V6, should have it here in a few weeks. The canned tune that I'll have to run is tuned for 93. Looks like I'm going to be stuck paying this crazy amount for now unless I can find someone to dyno tune it for 91 octane.(maybe Matt@FSP in TX). The kit makes 460whp and 440wtq at 12psi but has to run 93.. I might experiment with 91 but imagine it will pull a lot of timing and run bad.. we'll see. Definitely want to start out running what it is tuned for.

Buy the torque app and OBD2 and see if there is detonation on 91 octane. Also run 10% ethanol as extra knock resistance. Or you can run water/methanol injection like I do, octane on demand.

Also, the V6 stock timing tables are for 91 octane, but will pull timing like crazy on 87 octane. The V6 is over 11:1 compression ratio, higher than the LS3. It can run on 87 due to the knock sensors and direct injection.

I'll look Iinto that, I'll have to have something when I start experimenting with gas. I can watch everything with my scantools at work but they're big and bulky and dirty. I might be ok just running 7psi on wastegates but when i get the boost controller and up it to 12psi I might have more issues. Don't really know just speculating. Really don't want to get into meth if I don't have to.

I would't pay that for 93, even if it was available in Ca. Right now it's about $3.10 for 91.

Where are the stations with 93? I've only been able to get 93 in Dallas and it performed really well.

In Scotland the minimum you can buy is 95. 97-99 is available.
But, the downside is that even the 95 is nearly $11 a gallon.

You have to love the fact that gas companies are making a KILLING on those who live in the European Union. Russia, middle east, north africa and the north atlantic have plenty of oil and you guys are making these people RICH.

The one I went to is RS fuel, 3330 W Memorial Rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73120. It's a Phillips 66 station. I always see alot of high end cars there fueling up. The other one in Nichols Hills.

Those prices are insane. I fill up last week@ $3.05/ gallon for 93.

Best bet would be for you to keep running NO ethanol gas for better knock resistance.

Also another option for you may be a little Torco to each tank of gas.
