Key Recall Private Offer???
Apparently Chevrolet is offering a "private offer" to anyone who owns a GM vehicle that has been recalled for the ignition switch. We own a 2010 Cobalt and it qualifies. This offer is supposed to be stackable with others. Has anyone used this and how much was it worth? I was on chevrolet.com live chat and they said to contact the dealer that it varied with the vehicle you planned to purchase.
I am just curious if any of you know of this, have used it, and how much it was worth to you. Thanks, Cady |

Hi Cady,
We would be happy to answer any questions you may have and look into this further for you. Can you please send us a private message along with the VIN for your Cobalt, contact information and the dealership name? We look forward to hearing from you soon. Ok, so I can answer my own question.
I contacted 2 different dealerships, asked both about the "recall private offer" and both gave me "employee pricing" on a 2014 Equinox LTZ. I don't know if this is BS but both did come down significantly in price. I don't know if this applies to any model Chevrolet you may be looking at either but if you own one of the vehicles that got recalled for the faulty ignition switch then it cant hurt to try. |

Marketing ploy to capitalize on a safety recall. That's rich.
If the private offer was for ANY GM vehicle at employee pricing, that would seem genuine. But to limit it to one particular vehicle?...that's just sad...

I never said it was limited to one particular vehicle and I found out about this from a live chat agent on chevrolet.com
It may very well apply to any new GM vehicle, I have not tried it. If it is a marketing ploy it is a good one, I am getting almost 7K off the msrp of a '14 Equinox. It is a dealer demo with 5,000 miles but has never been titled and has full warranty. |

Yes, there are Cobalt rebates, One for recall - and another called Cobalt Owner loyalty. It took $1500 off my purchase.
Also, a friend who did not trade their Cobalt like I did, still received $1500 off a new Cruze - listed on bill of sale the same way as mine. |
