I really think the luster has completely worn off the Camaro due to age. It is comparatively dated and underpowered, and even after a year I can't get behind the 2014/2015's stance from the rear. I think not many 2015's will be made. I'm hoping GM hits it out of the park with the 2016. Give me something lighter with 19" wheels, fix the mistake done to the rear and increase sideview mirror visibility and I don't think much else will need to be done other than a couple more ponies under the hood. 200 lbs lighter, an extra 20-30 horsepower and 19" wheels instead of 20" wheels would do WONDERS to the performance of the car straight off the showroom floor. That would knock probably 0.8 seconds off the ET.

Not surprising that you could get a new 1SS cheaper than a used 2SS. The 2SS costs a LOT more out of the box. Resale values have tanked a little in the last 6 months but it is still better than the competition as long as you compare apples to apples. Had a guy in the other day trying to compare a "base" '14 Mustang to a 2LT 14 Camaro.....he was PO'd that ours was more.....apples to oranges!! Guess what...he bought a '14 1LT after driving it!!

I bet he did because you get so much more with the 2LT the base mustang don't have chance! A loaded mustang don't even have HUD , 4 pack performance gauges nor sunroof!

Not surprised the Mustang did well either. For one thing Ford and it's dealerships are offering thousands off the 2015's MSRP in the first month of a brand new re design! When the 2010 Camaro came out I had to fight tooth and nail to get my employee discount and USAA rebate and this was in Dec. 09. The car actually was released in the summer of 09 so it had been on sale for 5mo and still no discounts. GM nor the dealerships were offering anything off the MSRP and I heard of some people paying over MSRP. I think if the 6th gen had been released in the same year you would see very disappointing sales figures for the 2015 Mustang.

I think in large part the reason why the new Mustang has taken off is because Ford dealers by and large are willing to deal.

For kicks and giggles I went to a local Chevy dealer (metro Portland) and looked into buying a 1SS 1LE. I got the song and dance about how they're limited production, specialty vehicles, how GM is only making so many, blah blah. Long story short they wouldn't cut a price below MSRP +$550.

I then went to a Ford dealer, explained that I was simply shopping, and they quoted me INVOICE -1% on a base GT with Recaro's and the Performance Pack. They didn't try some song and dance about how it's limited production, or hard to find.

GM dealers are almost universally asinine when it comes to the Camaro.

Depends on the area. the first 15 mustangs at dealers around me were being sold at MSRP and some dealers wanted a little over for the first ones they got. But most by me that I have seen are going for MSRP, I have seen 1 advertised for under MSRP. In my area the only cash off being offered on Mustang is $500 for the Dream Big sales event,

BUT other mustang sites have people getting deals so all depends on the area I guess.

I remember both when the S197 first came out and the camaro first came back, you couldn't find a dealer around here that would let either go at MSRP, everyone around here wanted a dealer mark up for the first few months

Well to be fair ! Every dealer knows how great the 1LE is and you can't just go to any dealer and find it on the lot! The 1LE is a crazy good deal compared to a GT with there options! Plus the 1LE is the hottest Camaro for 2014 and 15 , the 15 Mustang GT with all those options aren't the hottest! The 1LE is more look at as a Trim so you're going to pay!

With respect. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm referring to the reference of the rear design of the '14's and 15's, if this is what you are eluding to(if not, I apologize). This is the very reason I purchased the 2014 because it resembles my '69 brick style taillights. Also, how can you speculate about 'not many '15's will be made'? You sir are entitled to your comments and freedom of speech and that I respect. There are reasons why people choose various styles. Variety is the spice of life.

The rest of you message I agree with and you make very important observations. Let's hope the continued success for the Camaro!!

NOTE Don't read emotions into this reply, it's just me telling you why I chose the 2014.

Peace,

Brent

Hey Q'smuscle,
Thanks for the compliment! I need to remove the 1996 Impala SS, just sold it. What a sweet ride. Owned it from day one and the first GM car that was actually trouble free the entire time I have owned it(sold it with 92K miles on it orig. spark plugs, Optispark which is rare and everything. Garage keep). But...sometimes the wife's needs(2011 Acadia AWD) have to be met. It will definitely be missed.

Peace!

Well I'm glad where I live then as far as this is concerned.

You would be lucky to see one Camaro a day here, but the reality is, I see one once a week!

Mercedes AMG's, Audi S4's..Cayennes, 911's I see everyday.

I will see Mustangs a little less often than the Euro cars I listed above.

Not the case with the Camaro, it's a rare sight here.

I'll have to see a new mustang up close, but all the pics I see I do t care for the nissan sport car look. But the big mouth bass nose just ruins it for me. Hope the new camaro stays closer to a camaro in appearance.
