OP , you can sleep in peace
Just checked my unit , it has at least 6 indentations only on that side , from the very beginning off that section all the way to the firewall Brand new car , and I think that's what they call ( crimple ) zones , to absorb the forces when and if it gets in a violent front impact Here you go Last edited by oldfriend; 02-22-2015 at 06:30 PM. |

Gee , I almost collapsed into the engine bay , when I saw all of those crimples :-)
My wife had to get me a double shot off Madeira wine , that thing still works ( the wine , there is ) |

You can look into that area , along the rail , all the way to the firewall , and you will see 6 of them , at ~6" intervals , so nothing to worry about

Check these out
Hope these come out well .....
bought my ZL1 from another Camaro fanatic. Cloned "Nickey" 427 Canaro (look for it at Spring Barrett Jackson) The reflection of one car in the other is pretty Cool I think. |

BINGO..WE HAVE A WINNER....I work for GM in manufacturing sheet metal. Specifically underbody rails and Body Side Outers. So yes, now that he has confirmed those indentations are where he is looking, I can back your statement. These are intentional, exactly as mentioned above. GOOD HELP EVERYONE.

What did the look like after it got smacked?
Got any Pics? How much did the repair cost? Was it over $6K? Did the airbags blow? I've seen major damage and no bent frame.... and I've seen not so major damage with a bent frame. Even an expert can only speculate as to "frame damage" until they get it on a frame machine.....which insurance companies avoid like ebola....cuz then they are pressured to total the car. Things can bend and twist and not always show unless they put it on a machine. They obviously didn't put your car on a machine, cuz then you would know.......but you own it now. Did they have to re-align the car? What were the specs? Frame damage affects how much adjustment is required to get back to OEM alignment specs......too much damage will prevent a return to OEM alignment. |

PS....your engine compartment is really dirty.....
Body shops create TONS of dust that gets everywhere in a car especially underneath and in the engine compartment......you should ask em to clean that.....they hate doing it....but come on.....its a 2013 ZL1...engine compartment should be CLEAN.......cuz Clean is Fast! |

.. And it is finished
Yes to all comments speed and solid points........ Noticed notch in frame after repairs made ONLY due to CAI intake being installed at same time as repairs, otherwise it is pretty well hidden by factory air box.
No frame damage "thank god" only cosmetic "bumper cover" damaged. Engine bay would've been a smart "clean" by shop I just missed it .... too busy checking paint and gaps I suppose ..... Oh well my baby's back and good as new. thanks all for the feedback! (and help) |
