The screen between the speedo and tach

Hey guys, I'm totally new to the Camaro5 group and just recently purchased a 2011 ss, I've noticed that some times while shifting from 1st to 2nd the lil screen between the speedo and tach says shift from 1st to 4th and at the same time it's virtually impossible to shift into 2nd. Is this normal or is there some destruction gong on. All input and advice is greatly appreciated.

Hopefully, you didn't force it into second gear. Read up on 1st to 4th shift in your owners manual or google it.

It's a dic - the screen that's what it is called and that shift is normal since the 90s. Crazy isn't?

Called Skip-Shift.

The feds started pressing this into cars to improve fuel economy, and let us skip the gas guzzler tax.

Thanks for the responses, very helpful. Yes, it's very annoying. I have t had time to sit down with the owners manual but that's in the very near future (like tonight lol)
