I dont really think my hood should ever look glossy, its supposed to be matte...

I'm also not talking about covering up the spots, but actually getting them off the car

I must not be looking close enough but the hood is the last part of my car I see water spots on. The wonders of an all black car I guess.

I just wash mine, with the rest of the car, using soap and water, then dry it with a chamois. Thats it and mine looks like new. No chemicals, or special cloth rub down.

+1 on that, I have a carport at home and park outside at work. I have no spots or anything, still looks new! Here is what it looked like after it rained and the hood dried naturally! No issues at all!

Never used anything but soap and water always looks great. Anything else puts a shine or looks like crap a few days later

I have the meticulous matte and it doesn't do anything for removing water spots. Same with alcohol.

I use Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte. I really like it and I've never had any issues with water spots. It goes on easy and dries fast. I use it in between washes too. I've had Adam's VRT put on it, but I don't like the shine it leaves.

I only have spot issues when I can't dry it. After about a month of that, I clean the hell out of it. Then the meticulous matte keeps it looking good in between. Now if you don't use it right, who knows, may not remove spots very well....

The SVRT will get the spots off when you wipe it with a microfiber cloth to get even coverage. Detail spray works fine too. I've gotten sprinkler water stains (heavy sulfur content) with detail spray and a microfiber.

Both products work great for cleaning and getting spots out. Detail spray cleans, Adams SVRT protects.

I use Chemical guys JetSeal Matte Sealant followed by Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte spray. Looks great so far but I plan on painting it matte black in the spring time.

Thats probably a good move because the vinyl decal wont hold up forever.
