Cam Motion cams

I have a whiny Comp Cam that doesnt produce the power it should with my mods 447hp/406ftlbs from a Night Fury with my mods is way to low. Im thinking of getting a different cam and was woundering what I could expect from a Cam Motion stage 3 http://store.cammotion.com/catalog/p...da57449a024668. Im going to ask Mike at New Era if he will do one of his cams done at Cam Motion. Im not going to look for hp I want low end torque. Its a street car. I might take it to Watkins Glen but i want it to be best on the street.

I should have bought a ZL1

With that duration and LSA, you will have good streetability and power. What are your specs on your current cam?

I'm currently running a titan vi cam motion cam 232/238 .621/.603 113LSA if I remember the numbers off the top of my head correctly. Pretty good streetability. Some vacuum loss. Made 484/444 on a load bearing dyno. 400wtq at 2000 rpms.

Nevermind. I see you're running a nightfury cam. I'd say there is another issue as far as power is concerned. As far as the noise goes, pull that thing asap to inspect it. I'd hate to see your bearings trashed from it.

Those are nice numbers, liking the torque too!

I'm calling Kip tomorrow to inquire about the low lash solid roller option, and cam spec selection for my application.

Lethal switched to cam motion grinds. Before they were ground by comp cams.

Thanks. Yeah, the car feel pretty good. I wish I had put more thought into my valvetrain. I went with quality parts, but wish I had just gone solid roller. A lot of people complain about lash adjustment, but I always enjoyed simple maintenance like that. It's easy. Not to mention Kip said with these low lash setups that after a few heat cycles, you shouldn't have to adjust it hardly ever. I could always hear when my valvetrain needed the smallest amount of adjustment. Let me know what you decide.

Let us know if we can help. All our cams are ground by Cam Motion.

I would have a shop/tuner that knows what they are doing check your setup and see what your problems are first .Most cars respond very well to the Nightfury cams . .

Spoke to Kip today, I think my quest for a cam has finally ended. He spec'd me a cam, and an alternate one as well....I have some food for thought here, decisions decisions!

Regarding low lash rollers, it's almost a no-brainer, unless the budget doesn't allow it. Some parts will have to be replaced, and an extra G note or two may not be in the cards, when the pecking order of things is finally budgeted out.

The good news is, based on Kips post in that solid roller thread elsewhere, that taller valve covers are not needed, thanks to adjustable roller rockers he sourced .

Sadly I'll be sticking to hydraulic, but I'm getting excited about these two cams he spec'd me, just trying to think......

A lot of companies are jumping ship with Comp and going over to Cam Motion. After 3-4 years of consecutive failures it was about time.

Once I left Comp I tried Bullet, Isky, Lunati, etc. Cam Motion always seemed to outperform the others and with much smoother (less abusive) lobes the valvetrain stability is where it should be resulting in a longer lasting valvetrain.

I went cam motion, and couldn't be happier. Its nice knowing my valve train is safe, better sleep at night!

Very similar to my 470 cam which is available on CamMotion core.

Let me know If I can help.
