Has anybody gone fron a V8 5th gen to a V6?

Just curious if anyone has switched from a 5th gen SS, 1LE or ZL1 to v6 model, the reasons why and what they liked & disliked?
Or if someone currently owns both.
Just looking for honest options on this, Ive never drove a V6 5th gen so I have no idea how power and handling would stock up against a SS.

With some of these crazy markdowns there's a slim possibility I could afford to get V6 cheap as a daily driver and and take my SS off daily duty.
Bit of a long shot but it may possible.

The 5th Gen V6 is a great DD.

But depending on how your drive the different in MPG might not be as big as you think...

24-26 mpg if your conservative. 20-22 is you hot dog it.....

I'd look at a 4 cly equinox as that what I drive for work. Dam gutless car forces me to get good gas mileage. lol

I had a V6 to start with and really liked it, then traded it for my SS. Since having my SS I've driven a V6 a handful of times and could say I could never go back. I was quite happy with my V6, but after having my SS I just could not go back to driving a V6 Camaro. This is not a knock on the V6, but it was just not as enjoyable to drive after owing an SS.

I drove both when shopping for a car. The V6 does get slightly better gas mileage ( I averaged 29mpg vs 26 in my SS on the same route and same normal driving style). The V6 is a quick car, but lacked some low end grunt (at least to me). The V6 seems to need to be brought into mid RPM range to feel sporty. Nice car and plenty quick for a daily driver, but you will notice the power difference.

Maybe not quite the same, but I have an '04 Corvette ZO6 and purchased a 2015 Camaro LS for a daily driver and I absolutely love the car. I will qualify this by saying that the Camaro I bought has a manual transmission which works well with the LSX engine and makes the car a joy to drive, yes it doesn't have the low end grunt that the V8 has, but it does accelerate fine and scoots pretty quickly when I drop it a couple of gears. No it doesn't have the capability that the V8 has but it is very enjoyable on my 96 mile daily commute, gets me around 26 mpg so far on regular gas. I imagine an automatic tranny V6 wouldn't be as fun to drive, particularly if it is an LS with the higher gear rear axle.

My automatic 2014 1LT/RS is a BLAST to drive. And that's coming from someone who's dad has a ZL1 loo. I love driving the ZL1 he has but always feel better when driving my V6. It's probably the ownership factor but oh well lol

Own, no, but i test drove the V8 and while faster i just couldn't justify the extra eleven grand over my 2LS. The six was plenty fast enough (for ME) and i was in love with my car from day one.

I actually got 31.4 mpg on 91 octane going to Abilene and back with the weather perfect, no wind, no ac, etc, basically perfect conditions which is unusual for windy west Texas. Admittedly the odds of that happening again are akin to seeing a unicorn hump a mermaid.

I had a SS first then later picked up a 1LT as a DD. Car was nice and all but after having the SS it just wasn't the same so we ended up trading it and getting a second SS.

no one on this thread has answered the OP question. most have said they traded in a v6 for a v8 . he wants to know who has switched and gone back from a 8 to a 6.
i would be curious too.
i also have driven both, a manual SS and auto v6, and i have the 6. the SS was great and the power is way above the v6, there is no arguing that. but for my purposes, the 6 was plenty for me, with initial purchase cost lower, can use 87 octane and better gas mileage. it depends for what the purpose is. but, nothing compares to a v8.

You should go rent a V6 for a few days. I just bought an SS, but I had previously rented a V6 while out of town. I loved it. The V6 is certainly a fast car and it handles great. It isn't a muscle car like the V8, but it's no slouch.

The V6 engine has 323 HP. That's more power then earlier V8s. It makes it a muscle car to me lol
