The music this car makes, specifically with NPP, is just too good to pass up. |

Take a harder look around. You should be able to find one almost fully loaded for mid 30's max right now. Chevy has some awesome incentives trying to move some of these 2014s. Heck, you can find zl1's as cheap as 48k and z28s as cheap as 53k!

Also, don't stress the exhaust too much. The NPP is nice for a stock exhaust, but I love my zl1 corsa. The dual mode is a must if you like to quiet it down however.

Yeah make sure you take as much time as you can exhausting (pun intended) your search when I found mine the dealer had it list bunch spots with no mention of the 1LE or performance package I had to go all the way through their website and pull up the window sticker online to see it was a 1LE. I have seen some listed on autotrader that did not have the tranny listed as auto or manual so if you select manuals only to try narrow the search it toss it out as an option. Can be painful to go through my only help was I know with the options I wanted it would be sticker over 43K so that's always listed so that saved me looking at every dam car window sticker.

Almost the same situation for me in 2014. January I bought a 2014 Mustang GT. I had a 65 Mustang in HS and drove an F150 for years, so I never gave the Gen 5 Camaro a proper look. Around April 2014, saw a ZL1 and fell in love.
Did some research and discovered the affordable 1LE package. ZL1 out of my price range. Almost bought a new 2014, but I prefer the body style of the 2013. I was disappointed when I found out they only produced 1836 of em. I thought I would never find a used one. Searched until June when I found 2. One was in Florida, the super rare silver 1SS 1LE! But I had to do a dealer trade in on the barely used Mustang, so I didn't want to somehow get the Mustang from Texas to Florida to find out the 1LE had been sold or had some hidden damage or something. The other one I found to my delight was at a local CarMax! Yellow was my 3rd or 4th favorite color but I pulled the trigger after a test drive. Took a $4500 hit on the trade in, but I am so happy and in love with my car so to me it was worth it. |

I Got It!!!
Around 4 AM this morning I was on Chevrolet.com checking local inventory and found a 2015 Black 1LE that had the 20% designation listed next to it. I thought it had to be a mistake, first that it was a 2015 and second that it was literally 12 miles from my house. I went to the dealer this morning right around 8:30 and found the dealership going under major reconstruction, the sales office a trailer and tucked off to the side the very 1LE that was listed. My twin boys were with me and it took some time before someone actually even saw us. So there it was in all it's wicked evil looking beauty. We sat inside it, made sure my sons fit in the back (barely) as one is 5'11 and just soaked it all in. Then it was a test drive. I kept in mind everything that everyone had told me, that I may not be impressed on a mere test drive. No I was blown away at just how well and planted the car felt, nimble. All the issues about it being hard to see out of, well I just didn't get that vibe at all. Yes the side windows are narrow and the a pillars are wide but no sight line issues. Immeditely I realized you sit in the Camaro and the Mustang you sit on top of. Well now comes the dance. First they said there was no way it would qualify for the 20% and second they wanted to give me 25k for the Mustang. It looked bleak as the numbers were just not adding up on either end. Then the salesman came over and said that I may be right, that the black 1LE was one of the first 2015's they received and had been there quite some time. Confirmed yes it qualifies, so a sticker of around 44k and change (1LE,2SS,RS, single tip exhaust, and moonroof was now $35,516,a 2015!!. There was almost no way I could let myself lose this deal, this was my one shot. I told them to give me 28k for my car and call it a deal. They took forever, test drove the stang a couple of times, called their Ford store, they didn't want it. It looked grim but they came back and said DEAL!! Yes I took a pretty hard hit on the Stang, I paid 33,800 back in August but I had to have the 1LE. So I did it, I am now a Camaro owner and it feels great. I think I hit a home run as far as the price of the Camaro!! Drove it about 30 miles back home after some scenic driving and I love it. Thank you all for answering all my questions, giving me your opinions and advice. Looking forward to being amongst you out there.

Id say thats one HECK of a deal, more like a steal. Although you "lost" money on the stang, you definitely recouped it on the camaro side of the bargain.
Congrats and welcome to the club.

Congrats on the switchover, that's a badass looking ride. I don't know personally about the handling but I can say for 100 percent IMO it looks a hell of a lot better!!

I got my almost fully loaded 1SS for well over that price (I did get a great deal at the time - Thanks Becky ) As long as you don't have any issues (knock on wood) You will be extremely pleased with your decision. Was your Mustang GT a Premium model? I have a 2014 track pack GT base that I bought May this year and I have many of the same feelings as you regarding the Mustang, especially that manual transmission. The track pack suspension isn't all that tight, although just changing out the shocks/struts makes a big difference. Like someone else alluded to, financially you are in no worse of condition because of how much you would have had to pay for a 14 1LE earlier this year and now you have a 2015 model. Needless to say, the 20% rebate has made me start searching for a 1LE.

Grats ! on the new car . I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoy mine over the last two years.
One of the things that gets me mad when you read other forums is how much they talk trash on how hard it is to see out of the Camaro and the interior because it just not as bad as these other people say it is. I think a lot of people that talk all the trash on the internet about the Camaro never even been in one before and just repeat what other people have said. |
