Spectacular video!! Thanks for the find.

Yeah, the baby Porsche is a tad faster, but I about pee my pants with awe/excitement/fear whenever I see a Z/28. Priceless. Though in this case 70k less

Z/28 loses and now you all are making excuses for it? Lol. It lost, period. $75k or not it just wasn't fast enough. Lastly it's still a Camaro.

This^^^. I have owned an '88 Carrera and a '96 Turbo and the 911 is still the best drivers car in the world. IMO the Porsche is such a better overall car. My friends Turbo S in my sig is a beast. Super comfortable, high 10's on street tires, sub 3 second 0-60, 25mpg highway, so quiet and comfortable like a luxury car. Any Camaro that can do that? As so many say on this forum, "you have to pay to play", is the same thing when you try to make your Camaro a supercar, which it is not. The Camaro is a great looking car and a great value.

Awesome video, not bad, only 2 seconds slower than a GT3.

Why do any of us need to make excuses, they are two totally different cars in different brackets.

Just nice to see a Camaro shoot so high, and I love watching the Z/28 out on the track.

I don't see any either.

This review was simply keeping it real. Excellent production, good job Motor Trend and Carlos! Always a pleasure to see Randy driving and calling it as it is.

Now back to reality, bring on the new Z06 and let's see what happens!

I have been behind both on a track, and while I could keep up with the Z/28 in my ZL1, the GT3 I couldn't, it is just freaking phenomenal.

Quite commical that when someones car looses in a heads-up contest (stock for stock), price immediately comes into play as an excuse. Sorry but that's pure BS. The Z/28 is GM's track car, the GT3 (at the moment until GT3RS comes out which really is their best track car) is their track car. GM Track Car vs Porsche Track Car. Period and as simple as that. Whomever performs better is the winner, period. (Personally hate when people throw in the "well if we added this or that...then lets see").

People are missing the point.

In the Lightning Lap this year, Ferrari was "complaining" about how well the Z/28 did and pointed to the tires. Guess what, that is how the car comes. Now, it did not beat the Ferrari, BUT, did very-very well and is respected. So again, the car community thinks quite highly of the Z/28... and price does not come into play.

Of course price comes into play!

How can you say that it doesn't?

Calling it out as an excuse is not accurate at all IMHO.

Before the MT competition even began, Carlos did beg the question, is this really a fair competition? Motor Trend did_not have to go through with this if you think about it, so the whole point within the context is quite clear.

The point of the vid, this edition of the show, was to paint a picture of a "what if" scenario. I think many of us as car enthusiasts want to see this sort of thing. I also believe we all knew who was going to win before anyways, so that being said, there should not have been anything for anyone on here to fret about.

For anyone who is fretting over anything at all about this episode, I believe they have missed and/or misinterpreted the point.

How the hell does price not come into play? That might be the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Who the hell would not expect a car that cost 70K more not to out perform a car that is 70K cheaper? If GM wanted to throw 70K more at the camaro im sure they could easily match and beat the times of the GT3. Hell throw on a power adder on the Z/28 for 7K and I bet you match the GT3 and still come in at 63K less. But if you want to take price into the factor lets see how the GT3 handles the ZO6 on a hot lap.

lulz, Its like saying that the F-22 will outperform the F-16, well no shit I would hope so giving the price gap. The Z/28 is a track car for those with a smaller budget and it does amazing giving that budget as does the F-16. Its not secret that the more money you though at a plane or car the better it should perform.

The Z/28 is the best performance to dollar ratio on the planet. It was so at $75k never mind now that you can get them at 20% off. I'm pretty sure that was the point of the MT comparison.

The GT3 is an awesome car ... but just like RBL said, with my Z06/07 I'll be any GT3s huckleberry on any track at 2/3 of the price. In fact if you add CC brakes to a GT3 you can get a Z06/07 AND a Z/28 for the price of a GT3.

When it comes to performance and making vehicles for the sport purist GM is world class, and the upshot is that you don't have to pay an arrogance premium for a $5 nameplate because some german marketeer calls it heritage.
