Is oil pump replacement required on cam swap going from VVT to VVT ?

I have torn down and built 350's and Miata engines, but always out of the car. I am wondering if you have a newish Camaro, is dropping the pan and changing the oil pump required if you just are looking to swap cams for the same kind of cam (vvt to vvt)?

Thanks,
Kags

The L99 already comes with a very good oil pump so a new one is not needed.
