NEX 8000 / Scosche issue

I just had a my NEX 8000 and Scosche Kit installed and having some issues. The installer said he needs to shave down the Kit so the unit can open because as of now I cant put a CD in cuz it won't open. Second everything was working fine until a few mins ago as the radio won't turn off. Anyone else have similar issues.

I have the same exact set up and I do not have those I ssues. My installer said nothing about having to shave anything and I do not see anything that has been shaved. I would be a little concerned about that installation. Mine works great other then the steering controls. Do you have steering wheel controls. I got the radio when it first came out and they said that they were not available at the time.

I'll let the installer know you didn't have to shave it cuz I rather not have it shaved. My steering wheel controls don't work either.

If it was shaved there is no trace of it from the outside.

There should be no shaving involved, as for steering wheel controls, on the scoche unit click on settings and select your brand of head unit. Give 2 minutes, turn the ignition off and then back on and you should have them.

Then the 3.5mm plug from the wiring kit isn't plugged into the jack on the back of the unit or in the wrong jack.

Or you might need this..

But i'm positive the schoche kit has the steering wheel control option built into the 3.5mm plug.

Scosche unit has bugs that haven't been worked out as yet. Even when properly installed with the steering wheel cable, it does not work consistently. The unit will also interfere with your TPMS. You would have been better off staying with the factory Mylink. Less issues to deal with and much easier to control.

I did the install myself, also added a backup camera. No shaving needed at all.

In my case steering wheels controls only work on HD radio but not for any other input like ipod.
