Power and delivery to the rear axle most certainly is - punching 450HP on slick roads or through turns is a recipe for disaster. Heck I'd take a BRZ over some numpty in a v8, skilled driver or not.

Out tha box the limiters are set the same on the RS and SS - 155MPH (more like 153 in reality), so yes, the top speed is the same. Although I do like the idea that the top speed of a car is determined by the speedo...

I just don't want to end up having buyer's remorse at the end of the day. I appreciate all input, thank you!
It's worth it, just for the sound alone!
As long as you don't get one of those wimpy-ass automatic transmissions.
(I figured I may as well go ahead and piss off half of the other half of the people who are not already pissed off by this thread.)

It depends on you. A V6 Camaro with a standard transmission is still a fun car (don't know about one with an auto tranny but I doubt that it isn't near as rewarding, I've found that with lower horsepower engines you need a manual tranny to have fun). I could afford either, but I chose the V6, I was looking for a fun to drive commuter car for my 100 mile daily commute with all of the bells and whistles that I needed and the V6 LS with a manual tranny fit my needs exactly. The fact that it was priced in the low 20s and runs on regular gasoline were just bonuses, plus it feels better balanced since it weighs a couple of hundred pounds less. The car is not slow, it has some kick and can easily fly around the narrow, winding roads around my house at more than legal speeds. I really enjoy driving this car and I don't like to drive slow cars - all four of my other GM F cars were V8 powered manual transmission models (starting with a '76 Trans Am with a 455 V8) and I still run a lot of SCCA autocrosses and rallycrosses with my kids as well as track days. One last thought, if the car was slow then SCCA wouldn't put it in the same autocross stock class as the SS models! The car may be slower than a V8 but it isn't slow.

Well, to be fair you can't make that comparison. You could then modify the V8 to "pee" all over the modded V6, right? The top speeds are both "limited" to 155, true. (Lawyers involved, don't ya know?) However, which one gets there quickest?

The V6 certainly has it's place, and it's an individual decision as to which one works for YOU. To each his own...

I refused to drive a V8 out of fear that I would want it, well one day I was killing some time and noticed a used 2010 SS on a car lot, stopped and looked at it, salesman made it easy so I gave it a whirl. I tried not to let my self get the "bug" but a couple weeks later I started looking for an SS in the color and specs I wanted, three months later I was driving one of my own. once you drive one you will know if you are ok with a V6 or if you will "have" to get the V8. I loved my V6 1LT, but for me I wanted the ultimate Camaro I could afford.

I love the last part of what you said. The ultimate Camaro you could afford. I am 22 years old. I have a 1LT/RS. The bank allowed me enough to where I could have got a 2SS/RS. But it honestly came down to what I could afford at this time in life. So many times I have seen people use ALL of the loan the bank gives them. A couple months later they realize they got themselves in over there heads and give it back. OP, no matter what you do just make sure you do not put yourself in a situation where you will struggle. If a V8 is what you want and can afford it without any worries go for it. But it will put more stress on you then I would wait until the time is right.

No, we do NOT have the same top speed.
mine says 180, and I exceed that in less than one half mile... From a standing start on street tires... And I'm only in 4th gear when it happens... What's your point...

No I don't care about warranty I didn't buy this car for it to be babied, I am sure I'll break something on it before this year is over with.
GM stated that without a V-6 model there most assuredly would not be a V-8 Camaro...

And wow, you might break parts... I broke more money in parts last year than you've spent on your car... Again, what's your point...

To everyone else... We do not tolerate inter-model bashing... Helpful comments are appreciated, self obsessed comments are not... This is a family of Camaro owners and we appreciate all models.

I've cleaned this thread up for the benefit of the OP, and issued a few infractions. Any further bashing will lead to more infractions.

To those of you trying to help whose posts got deleted, I apologize... Call it collateral damage...
