My dealer advised me that they will order the new supercharger for my 2012 ZL1. I started hearing the rattling about two weeks ago. Said it may take 7-10 days but they will call and let me know when it arrives. In the mean time I'm driving and loving my ZL1...

SC replaced

Had mine replaced last week with no hassle from the dealer in Valencia, CA even though I didn't get my car there. They have been exceptional with every service so far. Now that "normal" noise that came with the car is gone. I knew there was a problem when my wife said "what's that rattle under the hood?"

When I had my Metco pulleys installed, Joe at Power Tech Performance told me that the isolator in the Eaton superchargers would likely break. We did pictures of the install and he showed me the plastic piece with the spring. So he installed a solid one like the Lingenfelters have. My buddy with 9,000 miles on his just started hearing the rattle an dhis dealer is swapping out the supercharger, no problem.

I've got some of the other pics on my site at www.ghostriderc5.com

I have researched this and can't find one case where the spring broke, in fact Land Rover is doing the exact opposite going from the solid to the spring, go figure.

Don't know why. I just went to it in my post and yours on my computer and tablet with no problem. It's got > 108,000 hits and has been up for some years.

I believe DrkPhx posted a picture of his broken isolator a while back.

Well thanks to a local dealer a block has been put on my powertrain warranty.
Fortunately a dealer that I had issues with tacking a 5000.00 premium on
and losing my earnest money when I bought the car because I went elsewhere and bought at sticker is going to replace my coupler for 5 hrs labor @ 55.00 per hour and I will provide the part.

That's BS. It's user warranty period. GM even pays for the labor I'd you got another shop to do the swap. I would contact GM and let them know about them.

I just got mine replaced this last week. Not too fun of a situation. For one, the service advisor had never heard about the problem (mine was bad, the rattle went immediatley to the squeal within a few days.). I dropped it off on Friday morning, and not until Tuesday morning did they decide to replace the supercharger. The advisor said that they couldn't get the squeal to replicate and didn't know if the rattle from the supercharger was normal or not. They decided to compare it to a brand new ZL1 and I also had to send them recordings of the supercharger squealing and rattling for them to get approval from GM. Additionally, they tried showing me this bulletin about not replacing the supercharger if there is a rattle. The bulletin was for the supercharger flutter on the replacement superchargers. Got the car back the following Friday with the new supercharger. In all honesty i'm not very impressed with GM's handling of the situation. I believe that if they know these superchargers are prone to failure then they should be replacing them without the supercharger beginning to fail first.

Sorry I edited to add another sentence and make my statement correct. But yes the dealers service department did not seem competent about the situation. But in my opinion all the ZL1's from 2012-2013 should have the option to have the superchargers replaced without them failing first.

Car dropped off yesterday morning, Monday. Supercharger arrived last Friday. Was given a loaner later in the day, apparently all they had time to do was the diagnostics and whatever info they needed to send to GM. Hopefully it's done today. In the meantime I'm cruising in a Chevy Cruze, ERRRRRR!!!

After being dropped off Monday car was ready Wednesday. Since it was snowing that day i let it sit and picked it up Thursday. DAMN didn't know my car was suppose to sound that quiet at idle. I purchased the car with 3000 miles on it March of 2013. Was always noisy but what did i know. But about 3 weeks ago started getting the rattle so i brought the car in for the super charger bulletin. Oh so quiet now.
