Please help - AutoMeter A/F gauge readings
Does your A/F gauge constantly move around like this? Included link is to a video of my Auto Meter A/F wideband gauge. Car is fully warmed up, dyno tuned to 11.x A/F. I hold the RPM steady at about 2K (first part of the vid), then back to idle, then up to about 3K (you can hear the engine if you turn your volume on). I'm holding the RPM fairly steady, but the gauge never gets near steady. Auto Meter support is telling me this is normal. I can't get the car out and drive it as, its stored for the winter, to see if that would make a difference. I Would appreciate hearing your opinion.

OK im the smartest person so bear with me....You say your car is tuned for 11.x AFR, but I am assuming that's your PE @ WOT? If that's the case then you wont get 11.x until your pedal is over 49 percent WOT.... Hovering around the 3k mark wont get your AFR to drop to 11.x, it will try to get to 14.68, (if that's what you've set your fueling at)which is what your gauge looks like its trying to do. Am I wrong?
What is weird, is when you come off the throttle, it looks like the gauge goes fat instead of lean. I am not a fan of needle type AFR gauges I like the digital display. I wish I could help you more, but that's the best I can do.

You may be 100% correct! I have no idea that's why I'm asking you smart guys! Even at a steady 3k RPM, I would expect it to be more steady of a readout though.

My Innovate digital AFR gauge will hunt, not exactly but similar to that. It does not say 14.68 while I am cruizing down the road at 60. it will hunt north and south of that number while at a steady RPM. Thats exactly what your PCM is doing BTW its trying to reach 14.68 It does that by adding and subtracting fuel.....hence why your needle is going high then low.....So I would say that it appears to be functioning correctly, while im not a fan of how it responds, it looks to be working correctly.
Hope that helps.

Looks to be working. It will bounce around. WOT and it will go steady.

Perfectly normal. Car bounces around 14.5ish typically. In closed loop it constantly swings back and forth and adjust fuel trims. It should be fairly steady at WOT, but idle and part throttle driving it should be just like that.

This is why fuel injection was invented. The swing in closed loop is for cat health. A cat needs the engine to run rich and lean at the same time for efficiency and a carb can't do that. Once the computer sences the engine to go WOT by throttle position and vacuum signal drop it will go into open loop and no longer swing the a/f and be steady at were it was tuned to.
