I know in Texas and Louisiana they take that ability away for anything 25+ over the speed limit and it only keeps the speeding ticket off your record, the reckless driving would still hit you.

I would have a speeding ticket for every time I've ever started a car.

Things I could be ticketed for? Sure. It's state law to carry a litter bag and I can't recall if I do or not, but in any case, I never litter. But not carrying a litter bag in the vehicle could land me a $50 ticket, at minimum!

The only ticket I have ever received was about 20 years ago in south Georgia. I was going through a small town and the speed limit changed from 45 to 55. When I noticed the blue lights, I was going 56. The cop stated I was going 11 over. After arguing with him he finally goes back to check the limit and comes back and says "It's your lucky day." I received a 56 in a 55 ticket!

1996 - was minding my own business early for school. Around 11am, no traffic. Limit is 55, I was cruising around 60 in my Cutlass. A woman mergers on the highway and cuts across 2 lanes right in front of me. Slammed on my brakes...I speed up and merged left to pass her and boom - Trooper lights it up and I am at 75. Wrote me at 70 for the lessor fine. Plead guilty and paid + points.

1998 - on a side street I went around a station wagon (on its left) that was filled to the top with garbage and driving 5mph. NYC cop pulls me over for crossing a double yellow. Plead guilty and paid + points.

2004 - busted along with 2 other friends in NJ for racing on the highway and careless driving. We were upwards of 120mph...the rear car wasnt paying attention and we all got busted. Had to go to court...thank god my ex-girlfriend knew a Trooper that got us off the hook. Prosecutor called us YO YO's...Plead guilty to reckless driving and paid a 250 fine. No points, it never hit NY DMV.

Been pulled over twice recently, headlight out and driving in HOV without the stickers (I couldnt wait any longer, lol) and let go with verbal warnings.

Nothing with the Camaro yet - although I had a few scares, lol.

Only ticket I've gotten (so far) wasnt driving my camaro. I was working, driving my company's F550 bucket truck. Trying to back in a space between two parked cars, gave up after 4 attempts, then on pulling away, very edge of the rear platform hit and smashed a honda's taillight lens.

I was working at a public high school so the police were called after I told the administrators what happened. Cop shows up, tells me the truck's registration is expired, because our dumbass fleet manager left the old reg slip in the glove box and I didn't notice two.

Cop gives me a ticket for unsafe backing.

I was a way too aggressive teenager. From age 16-19 I got 24 speeding tickets, 3 reckless driving, and 2 disturbing the peace (loud mufflers). My insurance never increased. I did memorize the online driver safety course. No tickets on my record either (thank you lawyers, since there was 3 in one month in the same city. Just asked lawyers to keep pushing date back until I finished drivers safety for the one before)
No tickets since then! Knock on wood
I love texas!!

^Holy crap!

My one and only ticket (so far, knock on wood) was 2 weeks before my 17th b-day. Cop said I was doing 70 in a 55. wrote me for 10 over.
That was 25 years ago... and it was in my '83 Camaro.

A few other pull-overs (in either that Camaro, or my 86 T/A, or wife's GP).

The best part of all those tickets was that I had a Valentine 1 radar and then switched to a 9500 passport. They both got stolen and since they were stolen, no more tickets. I think they gave me a false sense of confidence. Now I pay attention more without them and like I said, no tickets since.

I got a speeding ticket in July 2009, one week after taking delivery of my brand new 2LT. It was a really curvy road and the cop was in a Ford Taurus. I was ripping along kept noticing this car about two corners back trying like hell to keep up. So finally I slowed and let him catch me, I was almost to where I was heading and didn't want him pulling me over in my mom's driveway.

He wasn't mad, but he did say he thought he could have gotten me for reckless (because he was driving recklessly to catch me, the 2LT was like it was on rails) but the only radar he could lock on me was when I was doing 60 in a 40 through a straight. I forgot what I had been taught and paid the price. I have an SS now but still that's the only Camaro ticket I've had as of yet.

Speaking of what I was taught...there was a thread on another forum where people were asking cops what's the best way to have fun while minimizing your chances of a ticket. Most were tight lipped with canned responses "don't break the law, etc"

One officer said "This is all I'm gonna give you....rail through the corners take it easy on the straights."
