Just wasted a lot of time at work reading this thread and drooling. Nice build, so much attention to detail and badassery. All the custom fab work, and some great parts used in the build.

Love it

PETE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
come on man, have you drove it? is it badass? you are like when the rolling stones come to town and dont give us brown sugar. details, how you felt when you started it. when are you going to be able to get to VIR to shake it down?
a short video of the sound of that monster. preferably with the headers uncapped would be the least you could do for all we have went through. LOL. you are a celebrity now and you have to keep us fans happy.

Congrats to you all that must feel good to overcome that monstrous build. I can't wait for all the vids to start coming in. I've always wondered what 'Murica would sound like if it could idle...

Thanks for the compliments guys.

I made the 6 hour round trip to settle up with Arrington and drive the car over to JPSS for Phase 2. Exterior looks mostly like I did when I dropped it off, except hood pins, rear charging lugs, and funny red button on the back next to the tow hook. Really nice sound on startup, idle lope is halfway between smooth and rough. Loud, but not too loud. Interior seems to have shrunk a bit since I last saw it - all that chromolly and padding make the interior feel more like a jet cockpit than a car. New gauges well positioned - TJ knows what he is doing. Funny water-running sound when sitting inside turned out to be the oil being pumped through the lines along the cabin side of the tranny tunnel to the tank in the rear - too funny. Didn't make sense at first why it would sound like a running faucet.

I was just trying to get used to the new feel on the road, so didn't do much. We drove for 10 minutes across town and the one time I hit the gas hard I realized I shouldn't do that on public streets. We have more little things to figure out to keep the GM ECM happy (traction control light is on but I hear Pete fixed it today; security system keeps complaining even though key starts car). But, we have a month to get that done before my first track day (VIR, Feb 28-March 1 with Chin Motorsports). I'll probably go down for a Saturday some time to fiddle with the interior stuff, just getting everything positioned well. For instance, I have a wide angle mirror that I need to play around with to see exactly where I actually want it.

Parked the car, and then we drover the truck over to drop Pete at home. Deb comes out of the house and says, "Oh, I thought that was you guys driving by a while back." Unless I am mistaken, I think we "drove by" about a half mile away. I guess it's louder on the outside when you get on it.

Dunno about 1500 rpm, but how about 425 RWTQ at 3000 rpm, and climbing hard?

Yeah, I will be signing up for the NCM June event too. Should be fun! I will definitely be at C5Fest too. Won't miss it this year, not a chance.

We are tweaking the idle and tranny. I did a modest pull in 2nd gear, about 60% throttle. On a public road you can't go full throttle. Going easy it pulled to 7k. It'll pull to 8k.

Working on drive-ability. At idle the big cam wants a few more RPM than the torque converter stall comfort zone. Shifts are clean and crisp. No flare. Opened her up a bit, no more than 60% throttle, being conservative on a cold evening with winter tires and instantly changed lanes. I think we have a strong motor ;-)
