EXACTLY or the fact the race gas is between 7-10 bucks a gallon, you can't get it at a gas station, and you're getting -37833557732563334 miles per gallon yea I would trailer my pile around as well.

Though this is a bit of the pot calling the kettle black, I think the show is a joke. As a younger guy, I, as many of you can probably agree, did my fair share of this type of racing. As safe as we all tried to be, there were people that got killed. It was often common to trailer a car to a location about a mile or two from the race location and then drive it there. Finally, there is not a one of those cars worth anywhere close to $250K. Not even half that if I were to guess. I also agree that there are many dumb ass punks that will think this is way cool and start racing on the street, and we all know where that will end up.

PS: I think it would be very interesting to see just how fast some of these cars would be at the track. Back in the day, a true 9 sec car racing on the street was not that out of line. Not sure if any of these are in that ballpark, but they might be.

Reopening this just to give my opinion on the show. Of course it's a staged race, discovery channel is not going to put up millions of dollars in equipment on the side of the road. These guys started out for years legit street racers and discovery gave them a legal way to do what they love. Do research and you will see they still run races illegally off camera ocassionally and have no problem admitting that they race anywhere rather that's closed road (like during the show), the track, or alongside some random guy on the street. If they don't listen to discovery channels demands they lose their money and their show and just become another street racer with a powerful car

I know they get paid a decent amount I'm sure they aren't making millions but it's defintely enough to put some big money into those cars and keep it there.

It's called ENTERTAINMENT TV and I like watching it for just that. Those cars are really fast.

A lot of the parts on their cars are given by sponsors. Thats why if you notice you see lots of shots of the parts I.E close ups of nitrous bottles, how brand X turbos are going to make them faster, the shirts with car brands...etc etc
