Vibration sound coming from shifter when cold

My V6 RS has developed what can only be described as a vibrating sound coming from the shifter.
It only happens when the car is cold in the mornings and in the afternoons on the way home. After about 10 minutes it goes away.
I can also get it to go away by wiggling and holding the shifter 1 or 2 millimeters from where it normally rests while in Drive.
Anyone else experience this? solutions?

While I have no idea what is causing the noise, I can tell you that it is bad practice to hold or manipulate the shifter after performing the actual shift.

I'm not holding it and the only time I manipulate it is to shift to another setting for tapshift or reverse or park.

I was troubleshooting it when it vibrates by putting rearward pressure or forward pressure on the shifter, and not a lot of pressure. Just the pressure of my finger being on the shifter is enough for the vibration to greatly reduce or go away completely.
going to try and get a video of the problem.

Mine makes a weird metallic rattle noise when I first start my car sometimes, also. IDK what it is.
