The GMPP tips are 4.5'' and we're getting worried about melting of the plastic (after the recent thread about it). It will be interesting to see if anyone with the Magna Flow 5" tips runs into this isssue, especially since they are even bigger than the GMPP tips.
if you look on my first thread of the tips off the car, the first pic of the close up of the tips shows a 4" tube inside the tips. this is a heat shield for the tips, i have driven all around town in it today and the polished part is only warm to the touch, didnt even burn my skin! if you get this system i highly recommend painting the inside of the tips with high heat black paint like i did, makes it look much better!

i just installed the system today and will have pics up in the morning!

Oh and im very interested in hearing any input about the rear melting, dont want that crap happening, aree these double or single wall?
i'm not sure if they sell them separately or not, b/c they're welded onto the tubing. you'd have to call magnaflow to find out.

it shouldn't rust since its stainless steel. i hope my tips don't do that! magnaflow has a lifetime warranty, you might want to look into that.

Its a shame that GM didn't make a mid pipe with a bolt on Muffler like FORD did.

If you install this piece it looks like you have to cut the factory system around the hangers at the pumpkin. The SLP like I just installed in the wife's car was cut 1.75 inches past the weld behind the muffler.

Seems if you want to install a different setup after the fact because you don't like the sound you could be SOL. I guess the shops don't think it is a issue to cut off a stainless system then weld a piece of crap back in to adjust it for another setup. I would think just a little common sense about trying to keep things similar or think that far in advance when they designed it since they had years of looking at what the mustang did to keep it simple and standard for all the aftermarket guys.

Do you think the 5" tips would work with the rear Ground Effects on??

Ok, don't think so! here's the response to that question:

"You will need to get the GMPP version which is part # 16482 for the GMPP GFX. I don't have pricing or availability as of now; hopefully I can get it soon. Generally speaking Dealerships like to mark these systems up and charge a good amount of money to install them. It really is a straight forward install and it might save you some $$.

Please feel free to call or email us anytime! We are a WD for Magnaflow so we can set the Dealership up as well; just have them call or email us. Have a great evening and we appreciate your interest in JDP Motorsports products!

JP"

We'll have to wait more!
