That can vary a lot depending on where you drive. Someone that live is the desert southwest or drives a lot of dirt or gravel roads is going to have to clean it a lot more often. On the low end of the scale I would saw 8-10k miles and at the high end 25k miles.

Just ordered a New Era Performance OTR (Over the Radiator) CAI. http://www.neweraperformanceparts.co...d=49&Itemid=59
I will be taking off a almost new less than 5000 miles K&N CAI with the polished aluminum tube that will be on sale on Ebay shortly.

Cold Air Intake Cover
I've read a ton of threads on cold air intakes, but I haven't seen any mention of a close-out panel or cover for sealing to the hood. How well the intake seals is important as most of us know so I'm surprised this hasn't come up. These pictures show the close out (19 on diagram) used on the Z28 hood above the CAI. I've seen a few threads where people installed Z28 intakes, but they didn't seem to use the cover.
Has anyone used this part with their CAI? Are there any aftermarket versions? |

That is an interesting looking set up. Do you have any information on it?

It's an OTR by Duspeed here is a dyno versus a pod filter 100% stock car on both runs with a tune only, A6. Independent dyno from a workshop so no fudging of figures.

It shouldn't be necessary but it is always a good idea to verify the seal when installing an open top intake. Just apply some chalk to the weather seal and close the hood. Then open and inspect the mark on the hood blanket.

![]() I don't know if it would seal as well as a hard cover, but at least they look to be the same shape. |

Just went OEM z28 off of Jegs, they are not far from here and usually get stuff in a day or two when I order from them. kept going round and round about which one I wanted and the idea that the z28 one is lighter than the one that came with my car and the fact that is looks good made up my mind. the 402.99 price wasn't much off a lot of other choices.
