Another 5.0 thread
Well gentlemen this evening I met a guy with a 5.0. His mods are o/r exhaust and Lund tune. Mine are cam full exhaust, cai, tune. We did about 4 runs two from a 20,a 40 & 45. I pulled about a car on every run except the 40 for some reason. I Have to leave TC on due to the issue I've been having of it going into limp mode when it's off. I Know the 5.0s are fast I don't want to start a huge argument the way these threads usually go just wanted to share my experience with you guys lol. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't pull by more, but I really think I need to have my tuned looked at.

Yes op with a cam, full bolt on's, and a tune you should take the victory vs a tune only 5.0. This was my exp when I raced a tune only 5.0 with my cammed ss. Now stock for stock is a different story.

This ^, I will say what is in his favor in particular is that Lund tune (its that good). If that was a bama tune you would pulled much more.

They were good runs I know o/r exhaust does a lot for them since they basically have shortys from the factory. I just didn't expect it to do that much hahahaha. He was probably right on my a$$ to the end.

My cammed 2010 ran a best of 12:20, I know there was more in the car but that is the best I got out of it on DRs, it had a mild cam that put 450-rwhp. I raced a few tuned/exhaust 5.0s also on DRs and they were solid into the 11s. I saw one crank out an 11:60. The 5.0s are pretty slow stock but minor mods really wake them up.

5.0's are not hardly slow stock lol. Now the 2015's are slower than the 13/14's and in stock form is a drivers race vs a stock ss. I guess the irs is the reason why idk. But yes those 13/14's with full bolt ons and a tune are no freaking joke.
I ran one with full bolt ons cj intake, and a tune (not sure which brand) oh and drag radials vs my untuned headers/exhaust C6Z on crappy stock Michelin sports. From a 40 roll he pulled away from me like a leer Jet, by the time I would hook and wind up 2nd into third I would pretty easily take the lead but of coarse he would let off by then lol. |

The best I got out of my 12 5.0 completely stock was 12:90s about the same as my SS, most stock 5.0s were in the low 13s. IMO 12:90s are pretty slow in the times we are living in.

Well I had a 5.0 prior to my camaro also and I had paint issues with it which is why I got rid of it, and not to mention the horror stories about the MT82. They're great cars I'm not a fanboy dbag lol.

$3000 for a GT500 tranny swap solves that tranny issue. All Mustangs I looked had better paint than both my Camaros. Weird.

Another angle others complained about the paint on the hoods bubbling and I saw another thread on a forum of a white one having the same issue as me.
