I'm an idiot (AKA: How do I mount an Apex Catch Can w/o modding my air intake?)
Long story short, I must have not paid enough attention when ordering, and now I see in the installation instructions (and on the sales page) that I cannot install this with my stock air intake.
I have no interest in spending $300+ for a CAI right now, just so I can install something I already spent money on. The installation instructions suggested I fabricate my own bracket, but I don't have the means to do so (at least, I don't believe I do). I'd appreciate any input anyone has about how they mounted their Apex Catch Cans, and if anyone was able to do it with just the included hardware and without upgrading their air intake? Or....if anyone has suggestions for a CC that, you know, can be installed with the hardware included without having to change the layout under my hood? (oh, and if anyone wants to buy a brand new Apex CC )

You can probably cut off the baffle and then just cap it. It's only there to act as a silencer for the intake.

![]() That seems doable. Any advice regarding the capping? I'd imagine that, if it acts as a silencer, I'll notice an audible difference?

It's an intake, so there should be vacuum pressure, so as long as you can just find something silicone that fits the hole and clamp it on you shouldn't have to worry about it getting pushed off.
The intake might be a hair louder, that's about it. It won't be a huge difference like a full cone filter set up.

A bolt in the head, I'm not looking at the car at the moment, but I believe it's just one of the bolts for the vacuum pump bracket. Here's a better picture, shown with an old RX can (slightly different bracket due to the can design, but same mounting bolt/location)
Thanks! You've seen it though ![]() http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...91&postcount=5

That's another $400. Maybe worth it for some people, but that is double what the VTC costs.

DONT CUT THE INTAKE omg your never going to successfully cap the intake without making it look like shit and not just making a half ass job. If your willing to cut the intake you can mod your bracket. I had to mod mine and even made a DIY in the DIY section it was literally drilling holes in it not that hard
