So when a car arrives at a dealership on a truck, how long does it take to prep for giving to the customer. My car is likely due to arrive tomorrow and I want to know if picking up on Saturday is likely as it is a 3 hour travel to the dealership. What is all involved in dealer PREP?

It should work if the truck arrives by noonish. Do you have dealer installed stripes?? This would be the major time factor along with GFX. If you have those figure early next week. Better yet, drive it for the weekend and enjoy!

I drove mine home with the white protective film all over it, the plastic interior covers and the custom foam door bump guards! I spent about 2 hours doing my own prep, it's and OCD/ADD problem that I.......oh look something shiney........what?

Your due date is only an estimate/projection. Mine was due 8/16 but didn't show up until yesterday 8/19. To answer your question, Some people drive away the same day. Some 2-3 days. It all depends. Your dealer can answer your question best.

If stripes are going to be installed it will be next day. My dealers stripe guy likes to do them in the morning because: a) It's the only time it is cool here. b) After stripe installation they let it sit in the sun for a couple hours to make sure there are no bubbles prior to delivery.

No stripes: 2-3 hours tops

the pre delivery inspection usually takes about an hour. sometimes more depending on how many times the tech gets interupted by someone asking him all about it. then a clean and wax is usually about another two hours. stripes are about a two to three hour ordeal depending on how good the installer is. gfx?

With the time constraints, would a dealership allow me to take the stripes with me and have them installed locally? I've heard that some dealerships will reimburse $120 or so or maybe I can have my local dealership put them on. They have said that they are willing, but is this an option of MINE or an option or THEIRS?

the dealership gets paid for the pdi which includes installing stripes and any other dealer installed items like a warranty claim. if the dealer wants to he could hold you up and demand his service dept do them but more than likely he would let you get them done at your convenience.

Mine was delivered on the truck at 12 noon,picked up at 430 pm the same day,that seems to be average time in my 43 years of buying cars...
