Anyone Else Run at Fontana Dragway?

Hi,

New member here. I've been trying to get my car into the 12's at Fontana, but keep coming up short.

My last pass was a 13.073 1/4 mile at 108.9mph, with a 2.0 sec. 60'. Anyone else on here run there? My fastest pass was at 110 mph, and i'm confused as to why my mph isn't higher.

I have not been there in several years. In my experience, it is a hard track to go fast on. It is slightly uphill. Often there is a wind in your face. The prep was sort of marginal. Several guys I spoke with one day there had cars they campaigned all over and said Fontana was one to two tenths slower than many other tracks. On the other hand, I had great experiences at FAMOSO in McFarland (just north of Bakersfield). It was a much better track faster times, better prep, great staff running it. It is further but well worth it.

Yeah, ran at Fontana and the prep was marginal at best...
You guys should come to The Red List Event on the 28th at Famoso. Going to be great.
Search it on Facebook and sign up.
Gonna be a few of us on here going.

I ran Sacramento last night and wish I could get close to those times. I am doing something wrong because I am running 110 MPH with high 13's. I am driver 4808b.

It was like $125. For all day, basically as many passes as you want to run.
Going to be a great time with some great cars there.

Damn, you have the mph, but your 60' is bad. Throw some drag radials on, cause with that much power you will never grip.

My top passes.

Agree making good power but 60' should be 2.0 sec or less. you are giving up 1/ sec or more. That is huge.

I'm there all the time. track is slightly uphill. well prepped but the angle affects mph. if you stand at starting line and look at finish line you can see it. i run 12.998 at 111-112 there and at famoso i run 12.93 at 113-114

How much hp do you have at the wheel?

Possibly going to the track tomorrow to see if I can get a 12 sec. pass.

Please let me know which time you go there again. I'd like to have someone to race with.

How did you do at the track? Are you M6 or A4?

I'm not sure how much I'm putting down. I've never been on a dyno. Probably in the area of 420 rwhp.

You definitely have enough for 12s. I use to have a 2001 Camaro SS. At Fontana, stock it ran 13.3 @ 107 and with a 220/220 114 cam, intake, full exhaust (incl headers), and tune it ran 12.7 @ 113 (383 rwhp).

With heads, forged internals (pistons and connecting rods), nitrous (150 shot), 12 bolt rearend, and Nitto 555r DRs it ran a best ET of 11.5 and best mph of 124 at Fontana.

Yeah, that would make sense. I've read that Pomona is the best track in California, albeit that they don't have street legal nights. My buddy, whom is a better driver than me, ran a 13.6 at Pomona at 106mph. He said he was on street tires dead hooking at 3500rpm.

I adjusted my shift light to 6300rpm, and think that I may have been shifting too soon.

Gonna get new plugs in and seafoam her.
