Very nice.
That grey grows more and more on me every time I see it. Congrats!

fun factor would also be dependent on whether it is a stick or auto, imo.

I actually went from a 2012 GS to a 2013 ZL1. In a camparo between the two, they were virtually identical in handling and speed. However the two a SO different it is unreal. However modding an LSA over an LS3 is the difference. Same ball park money when they were both made... I do miss the GS because the handling was the same on paper but the feel in the Vette was much more of an experience. I live in FL so that roof was off quite a bit and it obviously got attention in places like Clearwater Beach. But I would do it again. The ZL1 causes more "fear factor". Really opposite purpose for the car.
I hope you enjoy your new ride.

Thanks guys. The more I read about the ZL1 the more I think I am going to get one. I miss going to the drag strip and have no real desire to do so with the GS. I like modding, going to the track to see the results and modding some more. However, I may have talked my old man into going halves on one which would allow me to keep the GS. He was originally looking at Hellcats but being GM guys, it's sorta hard to go to another brand. We also have fun modding together (he had a 685rwhp 07 Corvette aswell).
Now I just have to find the best deal on one. I wish I was looking a month or two ago when GM was running 20% off on them! |

Well guys, here is my '13 Cyber Gray Corvette GS. The picture will explain why it is so difficult for me to trade this for a ZL1. And no, the front license plate is not drilled.
Thanks, Ken Last edited by NYStockboy; 02-21-2015 at 03:22 PM. Reason: adding text |

Oh, that muscle car itch is really bothering me now. May go see an in stock '15 ZL1 this weekend as opposed to ordering one from my local dealership. And I have been a stalwart Vette guy for over 11 years now.
Thanks, Ken |

Let us know what you think after you test drive it! I just hit 1700 miles on mine today after buying in January. I thought I loved my 2012 vette. I don't think I knew love yet...

That car is tight. If I were you - and wanted more HP - I would keep that beast and hang a blower or turbos on it. You trade that, I will bet you will miss it. And I love my ZL1 but man, your C6 has that look...

I've had two C6 Z06s and neither drove as well for me as my ZL1 but I'm a fan of 4 seats and a trunk. If you LOVE you Vette and the layout of a two seater pure purpose sports car, stick with it.

I also traded in a 2011 GS on my Zl1. Do I regret it, hardly. As far as the worse brakes and slower comment above only if you left those junk Goodyears on. Put some Pilot super sports on that will actually take the torque and braking and this car is a rocket. The C6gs did corner harder but everything else this car does better.

Well, I am still pondering the trade of my '13 Corvette Grand Sport in for a '15 ZL1. Although I am leaning towards ordering a car exactly the way I want, I am also looking for relatively local in stock ZL1's. While I have always thought that I would buy a ZL1 with the ECF hood insert, which I think looks particularly good with my preferred color, AGM, I found an in stock '15 with the base hood insert. I may see the car tomorrow, although it is a 2.5 hour drive. Any pix of ZL1's with the base hood insert, possibly on AGM before I make the drive?
Thanks, Ken |
