If I do a stock tire run, air pressure adjustment may be necessary. 21-24 psi in the stock rears will be what I may try. Running stock pressure will most likely be a bust.

In my 1LE i ran a 1.9 60ft. 4.1 to 60 and 12.7 @ 111 in 1/4.
and my SS ran a 2.0 60 ft and 4.4 to 60 and 12.9 @ 110 in the 1/4 (felt it had more in it) This was in cool 60 degree evening weather after i had driven the car about 2 hours to get to my "secret" spot. This place has super good pavement to launch from. Most of my "hero" runs were from this spot. Runs were done with no traffic present and all cars were on stock tires. A few POPO friends of mine held up traffic so I could have my own closed road to do this. I tried to run the same set up at a bonafide track and couldnt get near the numbers you see there. Too much wheelhop to hard to launch without breaking stuff up. The car and the tires seem to prefer street asphalt. Good, used clean asphalt. Car is bone stock. I have no doubt in my mind that a properly broken in Z/28 on good pavement, with a nice launch, easily will break into the 11's |

Don't you think if GM could have gotten a stock Z/28 to go in the 11's. They would have loved to advertise it. I guess there professional drivers couldn't do it. And according to the engineers for Chevy they have been testing this car for 5 years.

What makes you think they didn't hit a high 11 and just not publish it?

Seems like, feels like, doesn't change physics. zl1 75 more hp and a couple of hundred pounds heavier. Zl1 stock for stock should be about .3 faster, certainly a drivers race

We can discuss it all what we want. Its been 2 years that the car has been out and not a single 11 second pass has been made in full stock form

If I still have my car when the strip opens I will give it a good ole college try and see what it will do! I will post the times here. It will be on stock tires though as I am not going to buy any DR's since it is for sale.

GM did not (as stated above) advertise the Z/28s 1/4 mile time because it was not marketed as such. When the ZL1 was marketed, they had both the auto and M6 cars at the dragstrip running 11s stock on drag radials to show the 1/4 mile performance. That being said, I'm going to get an 11.99 stock on stock tires to bury this BS talk. Ranger at MIR ran an 11.13 on stock tires in his '06 C6 Z06 so do the math that it is indeed possible. I am not the driver Ranger is, however, there is a .87 sec cushion for weight and driver ability. The Z/28 tires are better than a stock C6 Z06 but the weight delta is 600 lbs ish in favor of the Z06. Ranger only weighs 150lbs soaking wet. Track opens in two weeks weaher permitting...we will see.

To be honest for the power the ZL1 makes it is slow. I am not dogging its the truth!
I have owned all the performance cars from new Mustangs Shelby's, Corvettes ZR1, Z06, Camaros, Challenger srt, Charger srt and 300 srt. My 300 SRT goes 12.40 bone stock at 114 with 480 hp and weights around 4400 lbs with no driver. If the Z28 doesn't go into the 11's stock its a definitely not worth the money. |
