Ryan, here is a large track event for you.

If you don't come to Marshalltown events anymore, maybe it won't downpour during events! Just kidding, it's been a pleasure meeting you and racing with you. I really love your car. Good luck! Hope to do some racing with you again one day!

Krusher, I doubt there's enough weight difference in any seats for you to notice any difference in performance.

I'll check it out for sure and remain active on the ICE page. The guys on the 1/LE page had a lot of info for Chicago area tracks and can't wait to get on them in the near future. I still have family in the Des Moines area and will probably be back at a Karl's Cars and Coffee event this year.@Krusher- the weight difference in the Recaros depends on whether you get the Manual or the Automatic seats. I went with the Manual. The seatback is still electric. I believe the weight difference is ~30lbs.

For those that think that's difficult i have dropped it from 3950 to 3860 in one year and that was before my forgeline rims so I'm probably in the low 3800 lbs currently without my butt in the seat and thats with my full interior.

Ryan, here are some more in that area.
http://www.midwestdomestics.org/show...lackhawk-Farms)

Some of the guys you met at autoX and I are talking about running the RPM or Raceway Park of the Midlands (formerly know as MAM or Mid American Motorplex) event with the MCCI on July 18th but that would be like 8-10 hours drive for you. Fees are cheaper than most organizations and a very relaxed atmosphere.

Interesting. That's what my thirdgen weighs with me in it. That's around 150-250lbs depending on your options right? What's the plan?

FYI, I always heard every 100lbs is worth a tenth of a second.

If it's done good and fast, it isn't going to be cheap.

Well I have been looking at doing a few things to for losing the weight, but its going to be expensive as anything is for our cars:

Hollow sways are 10 lbs
Engine cradle is another 30 lbs
Braille battery is worth 27 lbs
coilovers are worth 20 - 35 lbs depending on which ones
the racing seats i was looking at are carbon fiber backed so they are very light. supposed to be a loss of 60 lbs until you put mounts so its more like 45.
and something I am trying to convince myself to do is the formally known as blue808's front spindles and losing 60 lbs. unfortunately they are worth $5K (Yikes)
If that is still not enough there is 24lbs in racing brake rotors.

Eventually I want to to do road coarsing and autoross (I have yet to do either since my last two summers and now a third are going to be swamped)

I also want to get the car up to 500 HP on motor alone. I once wanted forced induction, but the thought of losing all the car weight and then adding 150 lbs kinda kills it. I think with weight reduction and a cam and head package I could keep up with the best of them and then the car would handle so much better being lighter.

I would wait and see what Chevy has in store for the 6th Gen before you put all that work into your 2010. Chevy is talking like they want to put the Camaro on a diet using the tricks they learned from the Z/28. It might be more cost effective for you.

That's awesome krusher! You should also look at the rules and classifications of the group you plan on running with. You don't want to mod yourself into a class you are not competitive in.

You should come to Marshalltown this summer and try the events Ryan, Stephen F, and I have been running. Rule of thumb for autoX mods are
1.Driver mod (Lots of track/seat time. I cut 6 seconds in two years with this mod alone) Everyone is fast down the straightways, you gotta learn to be fast in the corners.
2.wheels and tires (wider and stickier)
3.springs, struts, shocks (I would add caster camber plates at this point)
Can't remember after that. I think any bracing (strut tower, subframe connnectors) is good anytime.

I got 275s up front and 315s on the rear so i have went wide. I need to get some quality tires tho. I am happy right now with staying cheap on tires until i start doing stuff. I might have to hit you up and drive up to marshalltown.

The Kansas City Camaro Club has planned their spring cruise to Camaro's in Bethany Missouri on May 16th. They plan on leaving the Kansas City area at 10 am. I suggest that those interested in Iowa meet again at McDonalds/Kum and Go at George M Mills Civic Parkway and I-35 and depart at 9:50. The drive from Kansas City to Bethany is around 90 minutes and the Kansas City club seems to be always waiting for us to arrive. So leaving 10 minutes earlier might have us arriving at the same time.

I'd be up for that weather pending. How many cars usually make the trip?

Usually there are 10-12 cars from Kansas City and 4 or 5 from Des Moines.

The meeting spot I suggested is in West Des Moines. Forgot to mention that earlier.

Had my new stereo installed a few weeks back when it was nearly 60. Dropped about 5k in it but it sounds amazing. Window tinting and roto fab will be next. Don't know how much I will touch the engine.
