You compared their respectve output. How does that not relate to vehicle performance?

Wrong.

One of the reasons a muscle car is a muscle car is because of its sound. A av-6 will never sound like a V8.

I agree.

I'd loosely coin them as "Modern Muscle", but muscle cars were notoriously big, bad handling, v8s. I don't want mine to fall in that category.

IMO muscle cars stopped being produced in the early 70s.

People compare apples and oranges sometimes.

Righto.

I'd rather have a V8 than a TT6 or T6. Instant power > spooling.

Sound never won anything........except a stereo contest. I want performance, not a nice soundtrack. If you want sound, try the new Beck album......it won a big award.

PS: Warning: Kanye West does not think much of it!

cadillac already has 420hp twin turbo available in the CTS and XTS before the ATS-V even hits w/ more power. I sat in a V6 Camaro first on purchase day. The salesman started it with the remote and my thought was " it sounded better on you tube " I didn't even drive. went to my 1LE which was about three cars over...
V8 for me. always and forever. stop dumbing me down with displacement disorder. I've owned a buick V6 turbo. my brother has a 4cyl Cruze turbo. I'm still not convinced that GM's turbos are the best available.

No we wouldn't coz the question is about a 600HP v6 versus a v8

Who's comparing a GT to a Camaro?

It is true that many manufacturers of performance cars are turning to smaller TT engines rather than bigger v8s.

So who knows, it could happen, just intrigued as to what the v8 fans would think

Do I want to see the V8 go by the wayside and get replaced with other alternatives, even if they make more power and are more fuel efficient, not really. That being said.....

It is kind of like the carbureted 350 guys who just cant get behind EFI and modern motors and wont run them. Are the newer EFI motors better in almost every regard, probably yes. Do most people who have grown up with the EFI motors think the 350 Carbureted guys are a little silly and not with the times for not wanting to make the switch, yup, a lot of times yes they do. Will our kids have 4 and 6 cylinder motors that have a lot more HP along with better fuel economy than what we are used to and have grown up with, probably. And then they will think we are the silly ones who are sticking with our LS motors when there are Twin Turbo 4 cylinders being made that are way faster. Most generations stick to what they knew and grew up with, that's where their heart and memories are. It will be the same for generations to come as these engines and vehicles evolve, you'll always have the guys who "Miss the good old days", and you'll always have people who are embracing and moving forward with the new technology.

Hopefully that makes sense, its Friday and its been a long week haha!

Seems to be a common post for v6 guys..you have nice cars but your not in the same league...a lot of mid to low 13s..only a few 14s...and plenty of sub 13 times...look at the rubber on these cars. Now you know. These are muscle cars.

Heck, I feel like any naturally aspirated motor, 6 or 8, will be a rarity eventually. (Good news for us v6 guys!)

Was it a bad car? No. However, it could it have been so much more.

I don't see that as knocks against the GT, but rather props to the Vette and Viper...which have both long outperformed cars costing way more than them. BUT they were never meant to go after Ferrari like the GT was, its direct comparison was the F430 which its performance was very on par with. Acceleration to GT braking to the F430. Look at all the cars the Z/28 can hang with or even outperform...does it make those other cars failures?

The GT is not supposed to be affordable like the Corvette it is. I do agree I think the new one is going to cost a huge chunk of change, but I don't think i will be a failure. I think it will do just fine against the worlds best performance cars
