9500ix. Bought it the morning after I purchased the car. At ~400 or so, it wasn't cheap, but had paid for itself many times over now.

If you want to avoid laser, you can get a jammer, but a)check your laws, as I believe they are illegal, and b) they aren't always 100% effective. I find, for my purposes, that running a jammer is not worth the potential downside.

Remember, a detector is an AID, not a REPLACEMENT, for being an observant driver....

Valentine One saved my behind on couple occasions. That alone was worth the price, still 0 points on the license and a full coverage for $65 per month

On a serious note, Valentine1 radar detectors are expensive, but the best in the business. They tell direction of radar, signal strength, and are upgradable.

Poll added!

Would you say the Valentines are better than the escort 9500?

I'm not sure the v1 has this feature, but I think (other than saving my ass a few times) that the best feature on the 9500 is the ability to 'learn' false alerts, and ignore them. You pass the same store, and the automatic doors set of a K-band alert every time? After 2-3 trips, 9500 stores it, and ignores. You can 'unlearn' and you can also mark locations for speedtraps, redlight cams, etc. It also comes with a stored database of redlight cams on it and alerts you when you are nearing one. This db is also able to be updated, but I've not done that since red-light cams and speed cams are not in my area (at least not in the area that I regularly drive...and what kind of dumbass runs red lights? not worth it....)

It's a toss-up for me. I would LOVE the directional ability of the v1, but the learning and gps ability of the 9500 is wonderful, also. I think you can't go wrong with either one.

Perhaps I'll obtain a v1 and see which I prefer....

Escort passport max here, thing is an absolute monster at catching them before they catch me, can track and display up to four radar signals at once!

Escort 8500X2 with escort live and my iPhone mounted on center console with my proclips.
The escort live works with my radar via Bluetooth. I know where the speed traps are MILES before even the radar its self alerts me thanks to social networking for the chronically fast or speed limit challenged
