Joke or not, at least Hagerty's valuation report is sound. You can find those with the in-text links in the said article.
As a rule of thumb, hardcore sportscars tend to depreciate very little in their first decade, and then appreciate if lacking a similar but better successor. Since I realize that the 2012/2013 Mustang Boss 302s have barely depreciated, I'm pretty confident this Z/28 will indeed become a future collectible.

I must admit that I was a bit taken back at the entirety of the list. The one critical aspect that seems to be missing is the production numbers. Uniqueness, demand, performance and exclusivity seems to be the combination that makes a collectible (IMO). That said, Hagerty is definitely a reliable source.

The funny thing about this is if Chevy drops the Z-28. 1 year from now most of you will be gone, Maybe 3 or 4 of you left. The bulk of you will have traded the car in for the next big Hype Car. I was on the LS1 website in 2002. and when the Camaro stopped the site was full of crickets very quickly. No brand loyalty anymore.

IMO, the whole list is merely speculation, every year. Anyone go back and actually verify their crystal ball? They may hold some value over vanilla versions, but I am not going to live long enough to see any of the new iron start bringing serious collector money. ZL1s or Z/28s will only hold some value due to the fact they didn't make 80,000 units per year. Other than that, I don't see it.
But the value is all in your mind. I'll NEVER view VW as any sort of collectible. I'll rank that right up there with a Pacer X.
