Drinking and Driving is already stupid enough, but now this IDIOT has affected the life of another family. I personally have no sympathy for anyone that is dumb enough to drink and drive. You want to ruin your own life, that is fine, but make sure you don't put yourself in a position to ruin someone else's life.

I remember reading a report on this a long time ago and one of the theories was that when a person who is sober is involved in the accident they tend to lock up in which you stiffen yourself to prepare for impact (if you have a chance) and the extra force actually helps hurt you more. Drunk people are pretty much limp and they actually absorb less of the impact since they don't brace themselves for it.

If you look at the map of his house and the accident scene, it looks like he was less than a mile away. We don't know if he was going out after drinking at home or on his way home. Either way, my prayers go out to the family and especially those 3 kids...

This is tragic and reading this thread makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with the people around here. Even though everyone knows what can happen when people drink and drive the locals do it as a matter of course. I'm not preaching and everyone makes mistakes but I have heard comments or multiple occasions like "You haven't done nothing till you got your second DUI." And the people saying things like that are mostly my coworkers driving developmentally disabled clients around. WTF is the mentality that leads people to act like that? And the public transport does not make it any better you go to a bar and call a cab and they do not come. The excuse is that someone got killed once picking up a fare. Well i'm sorry but being a cabby is dangerous and if you don't want the risk sell your business to someone who will act responsibly. God damn i can call a cab at any bar anywhere back in NYC and get home. Do they think thats safer than BFN CT? Meanwhile every night around 12 you have to play dodge the drunk on the roads because people can't t think of anything to do but get drunk and put others life in danger. I like to get out but as i am usually driving I rarely drink. By the way if anyone wants to pick me up so i can get smashed that would be much appreciated. Ok, I'm done with my rant about the god damned locals. One more year till i move.

people never learn-- the people who drink and drive, will continue to do it, and the people who don't, will not. sad
