Did the Z/28 DSS struts drop it at all? I've heard conflicting info that they are the same ride height and others that it's drops a inch.

I thought you had an early set of knuckles on there already. So an inch more should help substantially.

Looks great either way though. Definitely a touch jealous.

Thanks man. Appreciate the comments!

The DSSV struts did not drop the ride from where I was with the Pedders coilovers. In fact, I think they are a bit taller from where I had the Pedders set (which was pretty damn low).

How do you think they would sit height wise in comparison to stock SS or 1LE struts?

Here's the alignment. Needs JPSS Camber Plates and a little grinding to get it perfectly set, but should be fine for a first day on the track.

I would be guessing if I said anything. I just don't know. It's been so long since my car was stock

Knuckle Drop is the solution to several performance issues with this Camaro. The obvious is the ride height. We'll bring her down an inch. Next is front track. We want to push those wheels out 5mm. We can then open the clevis slots and get to -2.5* of camber with plenty of tire to strut clearance. We'll use the camber plates to significantly increase Steering Angle Inclination (SAI). We'll slot those radius arm holes and increase caster too.

Ride height adjusted to 19" wheels with the coilovers.

LF 641mm RF 641mm
LR 653mm RR 649mm

After with the installation of the Z/28 coils and DSSV struts.

LF 660mm RF 660mm
LR 673mm RR 675mm

A stock SS would be this height with 19s.

Front 675mm
Rear 683mm

Z/28 coils are a bit lower than the SS.

As usual Pete shows up with a plethora of knowledge. Thanks man.

So basically the Z/28 stuff is 1/3" to just under 1/2" lower than a 1LE?

That takes care of one of my questions about the possibility of knuckles and DSSV struts.

I am not sure why it was more, but in my experience (from stock 1LE struts/springs to Z/28 struts/springs), the drop was about 1".

Great day on the track today.

When I got up for tech inspection the head inspector starts to ask me his question but as he pokes his head inside and looks around he says, "Wow." a bunch of times, and then concludes "You're good" without doing any actual inspecting. Then he asks to see the engine. All the other inspector types come over to ooh and aah. Lol.

First run was 28 degrees, and then it "warmed up" to around 34 degrees I think. So, limited traction. I would be surprised if my tires had half the grip they would have on a decent day. But at least the pavement was miraculously clear of moisture and the sun helped a bit.

My car has so much changed on it that I was overwhelmed with things to work on from a driving improvement perspective. Kept apexing early and soon realized it was because the car turns in so much faster now that I have to reset all my mental turn-in points. We didn't have the shorter wheel size in the tune, and as a result I kept on banging off the GM 155 mph max speed governor. That'll be tuned out this week, along with correct tire size (I wasn't actually going 155, probably 145).

Emptied out the catch can after each run. At first it was almost pure water that came out - clear with a slight gasoline smell - and then after a while it looked like coffee with cream, maybe 2-3 ounces per session. I guess there is a ton of water in that much oil (4.5 gallons) and we'll have to get it all out sooner or later.

Curved rear view mirror does not work well because I am too tall. Can't see around my helmet. So, we are going to install a rear-facing camera in the shark fin and mount a 7" monitor where the OEM rear view mirror used to be.

A bunch of little things still need to be done or tweaked these next few weeks, and then it's off for 3 days with NASA at VIR March 20-22.

Overall the car was a blast to drive, and I realize the biggest limitation now is me. It's far, far more capable than I am. I am looking forward to pushing myself to get a little more out of every corner on every session. Basically I have to start over on everything - braking points, turn in, when its safe to get on the gas again after apex, etc. I kept getting on the gas earlier and earlier and still haven't found the point where the car complains.
