Stock cat back no mufflers had high flow cats with headers then changed high flow cats to offroad pipes, the high flow cats kept all the sound from the headers IMO it sounds soo much better and louder now.

I keep hearing switching to off road pipes makes it "soo much better and louder" Is this really that big of a difference in sound? I know high flow cats flow just as well as off road pipes. My other question is doesn't it make the exhaust note much more raspy sounding as well?

Lol yeah. However, although I've installed countless cutouts for customers, I prefer my cars to not have them and only have the perfect setup I like 100% of the time. Didn't quite work with this car as the x pipe and muffler deletes were already on car when I bought it and I just put the LT's on.

thats mine ... LT's, offroad pipes, x-pipe and muffler deletes ... as straight through as you can get without a cutout ... loud as f*ck! and would be worst if I had a cam in it.

The raspy sound and the smell of fuel is why I went with hf cats

After three years of SW headers, no cats, and 3" Retro... I'm starting to think it's too loud, at least for a DD.

Maybe I'm just going crazy.

They will be loud. I got 2 tickets due to them in the first week after I put mine on. I very quickly learned to pull away slowly from stop lights and shift early when I'm near police to not get any unwanted attention. lol

With my Corsa exhaust it's not bad at all on the highway and below 2k RPM's but once you stand on it it's like hell just ripped open. lol

Is there a big difference between long tubes, with off road pipes and muffler delete ( straight piped) vs long tubes off road pipes with stainless works retro chambered cat back?

my cai is on a ups truck somewhere so I'm looking forward to seeing if my car will be any louder. as it is ( approaching 2000 miles ) seems louder now than ever. not that I'm complaining. hopefully my new fender hash marks will add 25hp.

Just wait until the pipes get seasoned (about 4-5 months)....It'll be a bit louder still.
