Nobody on this forum has added these parts because they have NO benefit over aftermarket parts. More expensive, less power, still no warranty.
At least if anybody has installed these, they have not mentioned it on this forum.

I forgot to mention that my 2013 2SS/1LE has the NPP exhaust option installed from the factory. I was also considering the worth of having my engine taken apart to have the Chevy cam/head kit installed on a low mileage car; I only have 2500 miles on it since I bought it brand new out of the showroom. From these other posts it seems like there are better (and more economical) ways of picking up 40 HP than the Chevy kit. I had read this article that described how GM engineers installed components from the 1LE PLUS the cam/head kit to create the "Ultimate Track Camaro" . So it got me thinking about it. The link is below.
Any ideas for how much of a HP boost I can pick up by installing the Z/28 CAI kit ?? http://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/...-mt-event.html Last edited by The Captain; 03-12-2015 at 07:25 AM. |

I am glad to see the Z28 intake is NOW only 20% more expensive than the Roto-Fab, but sadly to me that is still WAY more expensive. My sources are my receipts, and as you so kindly suggested, I checked them again,.....and yup still feel good about saving $50. I am interested to see your dyno results, I expect the Z28 intake be pretty much as good as the aftermarket options(hopefully). As far as my value comment, I think it was clear that this was as a comparison to other intakes. As this thread is a comparison of the Chevrolet performance upgrades as compared to other aftermarket options. The Z28 intake does not add any value above the other options available in the aftermarket(i.e. no extra power, not cheaper, no warranty). Sorry if I was not as clear as I thought I was. Does my intake add value when compared to the Z28 intake? Uh....yeah it was 20% cheaper and it performs as well if not better than the Z28 intake(we dont need a dyno to know this)....sooooo the value is equal or better performance at a cheaper price.

I see that Roto-Fab has alot of gaps and does not properly isolate the hot engine air from the cold air it receives. Looks like your 20% in savings translates to 20% gaps on your intake. I bet your intake did not come with a new MAF, that's another reason for it being cheaper. I choose the Z28 intake for looks and OEM reliability, no I don't need a Dyno test to know that it performs! I'm doing it just out of curiosity. I'm sure I'll feel the difference. You be happy with your warm air intake and I'll be happy with my cold air intake!

at some point tho the bolts ons run out and thats where this cam and heads come in. if you were to drop say about 5k total and get the cam and head $3200 then do your bolt ons cai, headers, thottle body, and get that dyno tuned and make 500+ rwhp

There is either little to know difference between the stock LS3 heads and cam and this kit, or GM is really understating the performance. There was a Summit deal that included cam and heads that gave about 100 hp more, but I think i was in the $3K range. I can just about guarantee that a decent head and cam change is going to trump a CAI, ported TB, exhaust and a tune mod.

LOL.....warm intake(they all are)...I like that. I am curious to whether or not this 'cold intake' outperforms the warm intake(roto fab). If not, I wonder what deficiency is causing this superior intake to fall short, since we are assuming it is not heat.

So you wait until you're out of warranty and then upgrade. Like I did.

It occurs to me that the article I read, where Chevy engineers retrofitted parts form the 1LE in addition to the cam/head kit, to demonstrate an Ultimate Street Camaro : Well that was to a "standard" SS model. I wonder if the cam/head kit could already be factory installed on the 1LE version of the LS3 ?? Anyway to check and find out ??

In the beginning it seemed they came with a 'hot' tune as so many people were reporting slightly higher stock dyno numbers. It was not a difference that big though, only 5-10 HP more consistently from what I recall.
