Stainless Steel brake lines

Just wanted to stir up some chatter. How bad do I need these. I'll use a good dot4 and maybe a track pad on track days but what about the lines.

I found these I like the red pvc coating

Stainless lines are great if you are doing track days.

I like the Russell Lines, we sell those for about the same price (but they are backordered again), as well as the Agency Power Lines also for about the same price, (1 set of them left)

We also carry the Goodrich lines, they are a bit more expensive, but are more available
either way you can't go wrong, they are all good options.

For track use braided lines are a must. For street use they are a nice upgrades. Braided lines will improve brake feel and performance but also add an extra layer of safety.

I went with the Goodrich lines and DOT4 fluid when I did the CTS-V upgrade on my daily driver. It just made sense.

Now when I'm driving to work and have to stop quickly in traffic, my concern is no longer "will I stop in time" but rather, "will the guy behind me stop in time."

Buy ones that will work on the ZL1/CTS-V calipers. They are a little longer than the SS, but it you ever decide to upgrade calipers, you won't be buying new brake lines again.

Stainless Steel brake lines are a great upgrade. I highly recommend them along with a good DOT 4 Fluid.

I would suggest spending a little more for the Goodridge lines though. Part # 12219 is what you need for the SS and part #12227 for the ZL1 or SS's doing the CTS-V brake upgrade. (you can use the 12227 lines on stock SS calipers as well)

Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

Best regards,

Tyler

Yeah, you could, but if you're just going with the SS calipers, I'd stick with the 12219 lines.

+1. Any brake upgrade is a worthwhile upgrade.

When I installed stainless lines I didn't notice at the time but one of the old crush washers on the rear stayed on the caliper so now there is an extra. It seemed to seal up fine with it there. Should I remove it and replace with two new washers or should it be fine with the extra used on still in there. I have the old used one/ new one/ line/ new one/ banjo bolt. No leaks as of right now.

Stay away from the Racing Brake lines (or others like them). They are junk! Had to replace all four of mine when I rebuilt my calipers. Went with the Russel lines. Great price and reuses the OEM banjo bolts.

Having two copper washers is not a problem they will crush to seal; no leaks no problem.

I feel as if an uncoated ss line would be subject to failure before a coated or even steel braided rubber hose. Even SS can rust; especially a lower grade like 304. Also may be possible to embed dirt in braids and add to the deterioration.

I'm interested if anyone knows bursting pressures and temp ratings for OEM style and aftermarket.

I assume they are longer to reach the connection on the caliper. Is that correct?
