I've noticed a lot of the slamming is coming from NON ZL1 owners... I'll never understand the way people on a forum work...

Every time I own a car of a specific trim (ZL1, Nismo, etc.) I use the forum for THAT trim car. Like on this forum, I have never even been into the SS or the RS section of this site. WHY it doesn't work the other way around I'll never understand. Like I said, it isn't just this site, but EVERY site I've been a part of it is always the same garbage and it is ALWAYS the people who don't own that trim causing the crap... Blows my mind every time.

With that being said, the Hellcat means that GM will make a faster car in the future. That is it. Dodge/Chrysler products are garbage and most likely always will be. It is nice to see a high horsepower engine in the car because that just means the GOOD/RELIABLE manufacturers out there will follow suit only with better quality/looks.

That's my rant for the day.

I get that they want to put a Hellcat in the hands of anyone that wants one without making them pay through the nose.

Dodge fans have been waiting for 400,000 years for an opportunity like this. (I exaggerate to clarify) So naturally they're going to come banging down the doors yelling "take my money!" because they've been kind of on the short stick of the "muscle car" resurgence. After this initial blast where the die-hard and bi-curious people get into a hellcat, things will die down.

I completely agree.

580hp(zl1), 640hp(cts-v), 700+ (Vettes-Hellcats-Vipers) is a marketing ploy, like two bulls eyeing each other up as to who's is bigger. Considering 95% of these cars are going to be daily drivers on the street, two tenths of a second ain't making any difference across the intersection and minimal difference on the strip. Each person buys the car they want, loves the car they have and all is right with the world. To each their own as my mother used to say....

I wouldn't give up my ZL1 for one, but the Dodge Hellcat is a badass machine.

You're wasting your time. For the most part, you really can't say anything nice about other cars here or you become one of the bad guys.

I think it's hilarious seeing grown men call a 700 hp car a "hell kitty". It's not funny, it's not original, and last I checked 700 hp was pretty fawking amazing. I give props to that car but I don't lose any sleep over knowing it has more hp than my ZL1. Why? Because I love my ZL1 for what it is. Like you said, you can love your ZL1 and still respect other cars.

Here is the obvious - the Hellcat is a f*^king awesome car. It may not be to your taste, but nothing pleases everybody.

Can it do everything well? No. Might it fall apart in five years? Maybe, but I doubt it. Are people paying too much for it? I certainly think so.

But all that is beside the point. It is a f*^king awesome car... everybody knows it... and to deny it is awesome makes a person look kind of silly. Dodge set out to make a street brawler like the world has never seen before and hit it out of the park. They even surprised themselves.

So just admit that the Hellcat is awesome... that it absolutely nailed the segment it was aiming for... but that you prefer the better all around versatility of the ZL1.

Awesomeness is not a zero sum game. Both cars can be awesome. That the Hellcat is awesome doesn't make the ZL1 less so.

There are some funny names out there for sports teams etc. Have you ever heard of fix or repair daily? That phrase has been around since the early days. If you are not able to take a little good natured ribbing and spirited debate well I am sure there is a saying for that.

So now we are using the I paid x$$ amount for my car excuses? This thread is really sad to see how a select few are so brand loyal and blind to anything out there they come up with the same sad ricer logic I've heard since the early days of the LS1 motor, we;; my car can turn better, my car is cheaper, my car is more reliable, blah blah blah. We're happy you got your car at a 20% off fire sale but don't act like Dodge dealers are the only dealers who have raped people on new cars that are in demand, they all try that mess. A $39k Scat pack Challenger wouldn't be too far behind your car and the top speed is almost the same. Using the I paid this much for my car excuse just makes you sound like every rice that ever lived. I for one love the Hellcats, Mustangs, and Camaro's, i think they are all fantastic cars and i have owned GM's, Fords, and Dodge's and with the exception of my Cobalt SS most have been very reliable. Cobalt SS was the worst built car I have ever owned! It was still fun to drive though!

I'd love to race a $39k crap pack dodge. Anytime. The only thing sad here is you trying to make a wrong a right. My point was the dealers are ruining it for the consumers due to greed. Dodge did the right thing trying to get it all sorted out. I personally think the hellcat is a good engine in an ugly I'll handling car. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. I think Chrysler products in general are unreliable pieces of poop. Again, my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

There are several Hellcat's out in the wild here in SoCal.

I've personally seen about 6 to date...
