Problem: Stainless Power Headers - Steering Shaft

I have had the stainless power LTs for about 6 months now and I had a question regarding fitment.
I jut recently noticed that if I take a right hand turn and get a lot of grip, my steering wheel vibrates like crazy. This goes on for weeks and I was thinking maybe when I switched my steering wheel to the 1le wheel that I didn't tighten something but checked that and it's fine. Next step was to check out the rest of the steering system. This is what I found: my steering shaft is actually rubbing the header tube and the dust boot is getting melted by another one. Anyone else have this issue? Obviously it only runs and vibrates on hard right turns. I have 18,000 miles on the car now.

I wonder if a shock tower brace would help prevent this? Obviously something is flexing on hard right turns.

That is strange. I have the SP headers and the only thing that was removed was the boot. I have tons of clearance where yours is rubbing.

To keep dust out of the linkage.

As for the rubbing, gently pry into the tube to make a gap for your shaft. Don't over do it.

I would put a small dent in the header where you are getting the interference .

Which size collectors do you have? I have 1 7/8" SP headers as does my brother, no problems for either of us and we autocross/track out cars.

Unfortunately all the motors are not mounted exactly the same in each of our cars. If it is mounted slightly more to the left you will have this issue. It's not the header manufacturer's fault, it's just the luck of the draw when we get our cars. I also had a clearance problem, but I put a small dent to clear the problem. You could try and loosen the motor mounts and shift it to the right, but another member here tried that and after awhile the motor moved back. You could ask the header manufacturer to bend another header to avoid this problem, but it's not a guarantee it will work. Hope it works out for you.

Not complaining about the headers at all. Love the product. Highly recommended. It is literally a hard right turn thing only, I'm talking 60mph and a sweeping right turn. I notice it only once a week on one turn I take from the office to home. I any try a strut tower brace and worst case dent the header tube in right there.
