Trying to decide...
Currently, I own a 2011 2SS/RS convertible (feel free to check my other posts) that has had many, many issues (top, weatherstripping, leaks, etc). Currently, she has been in the shop for the last 2 weeks, and from last check with the service writer, they have been unable to duplicate the latest leak with their rain machine. I am sure you can understand my frustration.
This weekend, I was looking around and came across a 2015 red hot Commemorative Edition 2SS/RS convertible, and have considered, for the first time, swapping my car for another one. I do know that the Gen 6 models will be out at the end of the year, but I really like the convertibles. After my issues with a 2011, I would be scared to buy the first run of Gen 6 verts. What are your thoughts? I know it is all my choice. Just wanting to hear some other opinions.

Personally, I wouldn't trade right now. Too close to the 6th Gen coming out. It may be an awesome car that you wished you had waited for or at the very least there should be some great deals on the last of the 5th gen cars.

My concern with the 6, is that I will want another convertible. After buying the 1st run 5th gen vert, I will not buy a 1st run 6th gen vert. Which would mean 2017 MY at the earliest.

Your 10-13 5th gen will be worth alot less when the 6th gen hits...make your move now, or your right it will be years from now.

Sucks you are having these issues especially since they can not duplicate / fix the problem. Since you really want a vert you are probably smart to go with a 15 vs a first year 6th gen vert. Obviously if you wait till the 6th gens come out you will get a great deal on a 15 but you will have to pick from whats left and may not get exactly what you want. Also, your trade will be worth a little less if you wait as well. Sounds like a 15 is waiting for you to give it a new home! Good luck

Seriously though, I think you should wait to see the 6th Gen. Most likely, the top half of the convertibles will be the same as the 5th Gens. If the new 5ths have addressed all the issues of the early productions, I wouldn't worry about new bugs in the 2016 verts.

I have one concern with the 50th Edition. I don't like how the 45th was a single package, and had no variation. I hope the 50th is not released in the same format. I like to be able to have enough choices to make the car me before sinking thousands in aftermarket parts in to it.

Personally what I would do is sit down write all the pros and cons out and whatever your gut tells you go with it. People make bad decisions when they over analyze and think too much. Just stick with your gut.

I am sure they will be adding additional rebates, etc. However, there will also be a flood of gen 5's being turned in. Also, if there is a convertible model released in 2016, I will not buy one until 2017 after all the issues I have had with my 2011.

I agree with your thought process. You need to do something sooner than later because of your top issues, so the '15 would be the best. And also, like you said, I would hesitate getting the 1st year of the new model. You never know, plus you could use the idea that the 6th gen is coming out soon and they may want to unload the 15.
