It would be interesting to know if the newer cars with electric power assisted steering do in fact reduce steering input or something along those lines, the 2010-2011 Camaros have hydraulic steering while the later models are all electric assist, that would allow them to reduce the steering inputs.
Most of the time if you lose control sometimes it's best to just put 2 feet in and hold on, usually if you keep the wheel straight the car generally spins in a straight line, where if you try and steer out, you might make it worse. If you've ever done autocross the instructors will tell you to not try and save a spin, just put both feet in (clutch and brake) and don't do any steering input.

Oh I assure you I don't think that. I learn stuff on this forum every day. But I have been around a while and have learned a lot by observing and experiencing the mistakes of others (as well as myself). Quote:
And by the way, that last sentence of yours (bolded above)... that can get you suspended or banned from the forum. It doesn't bother me that you call me that (I am an old fart with pretty thick skin), but the moderators do frown on such things. Now if I was a woman, I might have to report you . Just a heads up for you to choose your words a little more carefully.

![]() It's all good jagfan. I'll bet we could sit down and have a few cold ones together and get along just fine. We're in the same state so we may get to do that some time at a state-wide event. Do you ever go to the Pony Wars in Valdosta?

I have not been, not because of not wanting to, but still at a point in life where I can't seem to find any time. As far as the beer part, I am all in, and we are State Farm as well.

Tires go along ways towards determining whether hydroplaning will occur or not. Unfortunately, most summer tires have shallow grooves that do not do well in evacuating water away from the tread surface. The factory P-Zero summer tires are especially poor performers in wet conditions. Personally, I've chosen to run Continental DWS all-seasons on my SS. They've done well in the snow and rain. Honestly, I'd need a track to find a situation that they would be at a disadvantage to a set of summer tires.

The tires are a major factor. Does anyone have any recommendations for tires that handle well in the rain?

Sorry man, that's a bummer. Looks like extremely slick muddy conditions. I got Michelin AS/3's after hydroplaning going only 40mph in my worn GY's. They dominated the rain and snow this past winter.

Nothing crazier than I-81 through the Shenandoah in VA during a rain storm. I wouldn't even attempt to drive this car in the rain without traction control. The bitch is evil.
