Are there any updates to MyLink

What is the latest version of the firmware/OS?

Depends on which unit you have, if its a Gen5DIY unit no.

It is a DIY unit. I was hoping for something. The functionality of the unit is just horrible. If my devs and QA released something this bad people would be looking for new jobs.

At least wih ford they released several updates to MyTouch and it drastically improved the stability of the system. GM doesn't seem to care.

IF (and I doubt it will happen) GM releases an update, will the DIY people be able to get their units updated (USB, send it in, etc.)?

All gen 5 units are shipped with the current firmware. They would have to be shipped in for any updates.

I was in the 1st round of orders. Are there any updates since then that are worth the effort of shipping it in?

Unfortunately, I was ultimately afraid of this happening, which is why I strayed away from the Mylink system. Unfortunately your best bet is probably going aftermarket or getting an android unit (search around, there are a few)

I thought about that, but this is the only way to get the HUD integration. That combined with the questionable functionality of the aftermarket frames (and I don't like their look) keeps me from jumping ship. If there was an option for an aftermarket deck that had a stock looking frame maybe I'd consider it.

Jesus those Android units are a mess, even Mylink is heads and tails above that junk.

What about for a factory installed my link. I have a 2013 ZL1 that was delivered in early 2013. I have had no updates yet. But I read about people with Pandora (i only have stitcher), SIRI, even bluetooth notifications and sms. I am gutting the feeling that buying it with factory nag and my link means I am stuck with what I got when it shipped. Any help would be appreciated. Hi Chris, I remember you from my G8 and GTO days.

I can't really blame you, i'm in the same ship. still waiting for a company to design a more stock-functioning and -appearing unit, just love the added functionality of my 8000nex

There are a couple of updates for 2013 but nothing that will add anything you are asking for. Best bet there is to buy a new silverbox from Gen5DIY that I program with all of the goodies unlocked on them.

What's a silverbox?

Have you heard of the following issues with the MyLink units?

1) Music title hows on HUD maybe 50% of the time when a new song starts
2) When I start the car MyLink ALWAYS comes up to the NAV menu screen (address entry button,etc.). No matter what screen it's in when I shut off it comes back to that screen
3) If I forward through several songs (looking for a certain one or just not in the mood to hear what came up) it will just start dialing a phone # (that's a fun one).
4) MyLink just doesn't see the ipod. Unplug and plug back in and it works. Same ipod with the same cable works without issue on another vehicle.
